I think K1 Vin #s started around 1200001. The lower the # the more likely it has early version Z50 parts...i.e. rare parts. Be careful with every part, including original bolts, etc until you know which ones can/should be replaced.
I can see that you have a odd carburetor on that bike...not the original.

Silver tag K1's are 1969's. Frame production date is stamped on the inside of the left rear axle mount. Gas tank production date is under the rear rubber mount. Great project you have there.

I bought it at a farm auction and the original owner said that it had been modified to a 70cc head. I assume that's why the carb is different. They had a title that the owner said was for the bike, but after taking a look at it I realized it was for a '69 CT90. Obviously not my bike, but man... an original title would have been so cool. Thanks for the info. I will be sure to start a thread to track the progress. I'm also going to keep a vlog on youTube of the progress on the bike.

It may have never had a title,that would have had to been done through a states dmv. Since many weren't plated no one bothered. Every bike did however come with a Manufactures Statement of Origin issued by American Honda which probably lost or just not kept. Thanks to my mom who was meticulous with paper work, I still have everything that came with the bike. This is what it looked like,they would be surrendered to the state if a title was issued.

Promised I would post pictures after sorting a few things out.

My first build/restore. Did all the work myself in the garage and I think it turned out well. Some things I would do differently, but all-in-all, happy with the results. A small oil drip, but not bad. Reused as many original parts (bolts/screws cleaned etc.) as possible and only used Honda OEM. The chain guard is not original. My goal was to keep it as bought. Which I know is impossible, but hopefully close.

Thank you to everyone that helped and provided insight. I will add the ct70 too.

Just picked up a Japanese import '71 Honda Z50Z this past weekend. Trying to figure out what exactly I have and the rarity cause it's definitely got options the US ones don't have. Gonna polish it up as best I can, replace the tubes and battery, and get some new turn signal lenses and should be good to go! The quick release front end is pretty neat too. Gonna get some better pictures at some point when my allergies die down
