I've been busy around the homestead lately with some home improvements. (Bad time of year for that crap) It was kinda late when I decided to swap my 17 tooth sprocket back on, for my ride to work today.
I was about 10 miles into my 15 mile ride this morn, when I realized that I couldn't remember tightening the rear axle back down. Pulled over and sure enough it was loose...the wheel held in place by the chain adjusters and the chain itself I spose.
My luck is holding, but I need to stop pushing it.

I'm wondering now if I left the house with the screwdriver still stuck thru the hole in the head of the axle?
I usually leave that in there until I torque the axle. It may now be somewhere along the road in between.

IDK, Kirby...IMHO motorcycling is dangerous enough with everything in place and one is on top of one's game. Fatigue and distractions equal increased risk. Methinks the universe was gently tapping you on the shoulder saying "pssst, be mindful" The next oversight might not come with a such a polite, drama-free, wake up call. I really don't want to see a "recycled rider" rider thread.

Last year I missed my opportunity to buy the riding jacket that I wanted while it was a clearance item. This year I was determined to get SOMETHING. So here is the one I bought. Less than 100 dollars and I have my first motorcycle jacket. I didn't like it as well as the first one that I wanted but it looked ok. Now that I have it, I think it IS ok. I really wanted neon green/yellow, but red will work and match my red rides.
I mostly just wanted something tough enough to slide down the street on, so it fits that bill, and good for those cold morning rides. I removed 5 pounds of crap, it's still pretty stiff...hopefully that will get better. A little much for riding my CT70'S around maybe...as if I'm gonna go 100mph...but safety first and all that.

I'm wondering what others think about wearing a jacket like this while riding your little bikes.
I expect I might get a few more giggles than if I were in my, less formal wear...but I got over those fears a long time ago.

I like my Mikuni carbs, but I don't care for the silly pink hoses they put on them. I finally bought some small black hose that works well. Weed eater fuel line with about a 1/10" id. I have a 25' roll.

If anyone else wants to replace their pink hoses, I can send you a 3' piece pretty cheap...I'm thinking 5 or 6 bucks shipped. 3 foot should be plenty to rout those hoses right out thru the skid plate.

Let me know if you need some.

CJpayne...here's a ride to work video, per your request. This is my typical route, but sometimes it varies, especially if I have time to spare.
This bike has just over 1000 miles on it's new life now. It's been running really great, but it was sputtering at me a little this morning.
No words in this video...to early for words.

That was awesome kirrbby!!!!!!!!!! I enjoyed every minute of it. If I drove my HK1 to work, it would be certain suicide.lol
Bike sounds great, geared right, and healthy. The black and CRR look great together.
When you went over those RR tracks, made my adrenaline jump a little. Those looked a little rough.
Looks like you were hitting around 45-65mph???
Isn't this the bike that my daughter Sharon donated the surprise flywheel cover too?
Thanks for the vid.

The grocery getter in front of me obviously knew that sinkhole had sunk. I didn't. If I wasn't following so close, a Xtra second might have been enough to clue me in. But it was that sunken patch of blacktop...patch, that rattled my teeth, not RR tracks.

The tb117 with their race head it a great running motor. I tend to run it at about 53mph on the stock speedo. But it's kinda buzzy for me. It's nearing 9000 rpm at that speed. I'd like to try subtracting 1 tooth on the rear sprocket. Somewhere in this video...I'm looking for another gear. lol, didn't find it either. The buzzy engine seems to do that to me often. Seems like I'm wound up at 45mph...so I'm looking to hit another gear. But I'm NOT wound up yet. This motor I think will top out at about 62mph. I don't push it that far too often because the high rpm's...make me uncomfortable, lol.

I miss my 125 ALOT. 60 was quite cozy on the dax. I am going to have to replace that bike for sure. I have something in the works, I spose it needs to go on the front burner. Currently, my Old Dirty Bastard project is little more than some boxes marked "ODB" I have high hopes to get some shit done this winter.

I still have Sharon's 6v side cover that will go on this black and red bike. It won't fit over the current flywheel. But I plan to add turn signals to this bike. When I do I'll swap on a lil mini sized...Daytona style stator setup. Then I can make the 6v cover work.

The tb117 kit with race head is around $550 I think. It's pretty awesome, if anyone is considering it. I'm sure it could be tuned in better than mine is too.

The motor sounds good, carb seems to be dialed-in well. I'd try upsizing the C/S sprocket by one tooth...`cuz it's easy & quick. See how that works. Best guess is that the motor should top out around 65mph, with 9000rpm pulling closer to 60mph and that'll happen with a sprocket ratio right around ~2.1. Believe me, it's worth the effort to get the gearing optimized. For this type of riding, that means finding the limit of how tall a gear the engine can pull, without being weak in 4th gear. Even a 200-300rpm decrease will be a welcome improvement, as the miles roll past.

When I did see your speedo, it looked to be hitting about 60, then you would go faster. Thats why I thought you were hitting around 65.
Anyway, awesome vid.

Its a stock k1, 50mph speedo. I think I still have a 17t front sprocket on there, 17/33. But I might have changed it back to 16..? I'll check that, and I'll do a speed blast with my smart phone speedo app...and pay attention to the rpms. The motor is all loosened up and running pretty nice. I'll push to the...near max :--) See what she'll do. I don't think I've ever gone over about 10100 rpm... On my $1.98 tachometer.
