It’s weird to think I signed up for LH 3 years ago. My first thread starts here. I have been lurking in the shadows for a while. I am about to start a build so I figured now is a good time to become active on this amazing forum. A little bit about me, I am 24 years old and live in a small town in southern Oregon. I learned to ride a motorcycle on my 1971 CT70H about 15 years ago. When I learned to ride, the bike’s owner was a good family friend. I bought it in 2015 from him hoping to bring back those fun memories. I then went on to experience my first street bike ride in 2012, and I was hooked.

The next few years I was building motorcycles out of a friends garage. I love electrical work so I was always rewiring his bikes. We bought a few non-runners then got them going again and sold them. I bought a bunch of junk 80s and 90s motorcycles trying to ride daily. Well it's hard to ride when your motorcycles keep breaking down.

In 2017 I bought my first real daily rider, a 2006 Ducati Multistrada. I was originally looking for a 2014 Triumph Street Triple R but when I found "the one" it sold hours before I went to pick it up. When I arrived at Ted's place (motorcycle consignment warehouse) he told me the heartbreaking news but then said, "let’s see what you like". I told him I wanted an upright seating position, low end torque, European, and as many bells and whistles as possible. He then sat me down on Jan (my Ducati) I instantly fell in love with the dry clutch noises, heated grips, digital speedometer, and GPS. He said, “this is a great European bike with lots of torque, and do you feel any weight on your wrist?”. So that day I found myself on a 50 mile backroad home.

Fast forward to present day and I find myself daily riding Jan and unfortunately the CT70 sits in the garage and collects dust. About six months ago a close friend and I were racing the CT70 around the circuit. Going for best time, he comes around his last lap and I hear a tic. Uh-oh...(I won the race by the way!) Pulled the engine apart to find a bent valve. Instead of tearing apart the head that has multiple cracks in it, I decide to purchase a whole new complete head. We got the whole engine cleaned up and new gaskets all around. Started it up for the first time to hear an even worse tic. In the process of all that my wife and I bought a house. So the Mini Trail got put on the back burner.

Now that we are all settled I want to get it running again. The build that I plan on posting on LH is not for my CT70; it will be for the build that I am doing with my buddy who bent the valve! In the time it takes us to build his I plan on saving up for a Lifan 125 that way we can have a proper race.

To wrap this all up, I just wanted to say thank you for giving me an unlimited amount of reading and knowledge with this forum. I am excited to start the build and become something more than a "new member" on here.
