[Old Guy Too Many Bikes]

I can't understand it, I'm not a scooter guy. I have 3 little Hondas, a 140 CL90, a 140 CT70, and a new Monkey that are way way faster and cooler, but I just dig riding this little Metropolitan. Even if it can't break 35 mph. It's too nice to mess with and it's really for the wife, so I'll leave it alone. But if I run across a cheap or busted one, I'm gonna buy it and do the 150 GY6 swap.

They are definitely addictive. I've been working on a gy6 swapped off roader Ruckus on and off. Just got a custom spacer machined to fit this 7" wide Predator50 ATV tire on the rear.

I still don't get this Ruckus cult thing, but I have to admire and respect all the work and ingenuity guys are putting into these little bikes. Ride on!

I don't know what the hell is wrong with me. Another scooter followed me home. A low mileage, non-running, slightly beat up, but currently registered '06 Yamaha Vino 125. Yeah, it's not a Honda, but it seems to be making friends with the Metropolitan in the garage. At least it's carbureted.

I rebuilt the carb, drained and refilled the fuel tank, replaced the battery and it fired right up. Sweet little scoot. I also splurged and bought a high performance variator for the Metropolitan. Acceleration improved and top speed increased from 34 to 39 mph.

I'm thinkin that extra 5 mph is a big improvement. 39 sounds pretty good on that bike...and probably all wifey will want.

Got it up to 42 going down hill. Got the Yamaha up to 51 on level ground. Gonna remove the air injection system system and it might get it up to 55.

Remove the air injection, and got it up to 55 on level ground. I'm surprised at the lack of vibration. The vibration on my 140's is very noticeable. My 125 Monkey and my neighbor's 125 super cub, vibrate, but not as bad. My wife's 49 cc Metro doesn't vibrate at all, because that piston is so tiny. But this little 125 yamaha is super smooth. Feels like it has a balance shaft like the bigger Honda singles. Maybe it's because the engine is part of the swingarm and not the frame. Got it all torn apart for a repaint, can't wait to ride it again.
