What do you guys think of those Skyteam clones that Trail Buddys sells? :39:

I sell them so take my word with a grain of salt but I have nothing to gain here. I have been running three skyteam bikes for the past six months. One stock, and two race bikes. I beat my bikes up and I haven't had any problems yet. For the money, and assuming you use it for fun and not commuting to work 25 miles five days a week you'll love it!

The bad:

-The bikes vibrate being an unbalanced single cylinder so buy some lock tight and slap it on all your big bolts.

-if you have it shipped to your door they come in a crate and you have to assemble it.

-hopefully the shippers didn't damage something

-you can't tell people it's a HONDA (who cares)

-the drive chain they come with is shit. toss it.

-fit and finish will never be O.E.M Honda quality but that's a misnomer because no vintage Honda for $1,300 will be in as good of condition as a new skyteam.

The good

-If you want a ct70 but are going to swap in better forks, disc brake, and a larger Chinese engine you are better off buying a skyteam.

-fun as hell and 55mph with a pipe. 50+ stock.

-electric start

-no problems with engines so far.

I bought a clone off of CL a little While back for 120.00,down from 300.00,was gonna use the seat pan and exhaust off of it for other projects.I started riding it and beating the hell out of it and needless to say Im impressed with it.It always starts on the first kick it doesnt leak and I feel like Im 12 again every time I ride it,domt Know the year or anything, but the wheels say Skyteam and I think its great. If it lasts till I get my 72 K1 done I think it was money well spent and Id probably buy a new one down the road soon, here it is. 028.jpg

Thanks for the info. I was going to take a frame and put a disc front end, aluminium swingarm and a Chinese engine, sort of make it a cafe/drag bike. :10:. I'd probably be money ahead, buying a skyteam and doing the extra couple mods.

Hi i bought one summer 2012, brand new in 125cc format, i currently have it down to bare frame as i speak waiting at the powdercoaters and its getting a full rebuild on its return i have spent double the price i paid on parts to add to it so far, engine next, maybe a daytona 150 or anima, watch this space it will be stunning!

P.S. has the 5.5 litre fuel tank too, saves on carrying extra bottles or attaching tanks externally, biggest bonus of all!;)

Disagree with the assessment above! You can buy 91-94 Honda CT70s anywhere from 800-1250 pretty easily. Then to get the same level of performance, drop in a tb 88-106 kit from 120-350 and you'll have honda reliability with the speed you need.
