So I am currently in the process of building a 1982 GS550. I removed the heavy and slow 550cc four banger and I fabricated to fit a rotax 521cc twin 2-stroke.
Engine runs good , used the jackshaft and snowmobile clutch so there is no shifting, just pin it and go. lol.
I am currently wiring the bike up. Pretty straight forward headlight, tail light, plate light, signals. I have a acewell speedo/tach fully digital even has fuel gauge.
But I am at a loss right now on converting from ac-dc. and keeping 12v
Does any one have electrical experience with this. I have a 12v Volatge Rectifier which gives me 12v dc but If I bring it above idle the volatage jumps to 20v. I also have ac voltage still 2-5v.
I ordered a aftermarket ski doo voltage regulator/rectifier Looks great ground, power out, and two power wires that come from the stator, but I am getting 2-6v when I need 12v-14v
Originally it just has a voltage regulator which works fine except for 1 thing, I need 12v dc for the acewell computer and for the flasher relay.
Unless there is a way to rectify voltage inline?
I hope I didnt loose anyone.
