Stator voltage too low

I’m working on a 1981 CT110 with no spark. On kick-starting I’m only getting 8-10 AC volts from the stator. I assume this is the reason I’m getting no spark. The stator itself looks brand new with nothing burned and no obvious cracks, etc. There is good continuity between the yellow and white sires. I can’t do a test with the motor running as it won’t start. Is there any way to prove that the stator is really bad? I hate to just buy a new stator as they are very expensive !
I do have another stator that gives 50 bolts on kick-start, but it has different wiring, The original one has H, W, and B/W. The extra one I have has a Pink wire, which I’ve heard the 1981 is supposed to have. Help !!

Sorry the original has Y, W, and B/W

does the ct110 need a good charged battery to run?
No. Ive had 4 ct110s both points and cdi. Battery can be fully flat and bike run fine. I have had at least 15,000 miles run on CT 110 and never once have had a stator issue. You may want to go ahead and look on the Australian postie forums as they get 50k out of them before they are retired. I am not sure what they use today but postie bikes are still a popular ride.

If you just want to be done and expected to work correctly, send your stater out to Ricky Stater and have them rewind it and don’t worry about it again.

However, you mentioned that this is a 1981 which means it is a point system. Maybe want to check the points in the condenser first. The staters are generally bulletproof.
