Stator wiring questions

OK, i purchased the stator rebuild kit from CHP. few questions:: need answer ASAP! i leave for a huge car show in 3 days! thanks in advance!


1. there are 4 wires as opposed to 3. a black, a green, a blue, and a red..... why is there 1 extra?

2. i have the 3 wires going to the capacitor, one from the bolt on the points, one from the coil on the lower left, one going to the black wire (i presume the wire going to the harness/coil) is this correct?

3. there is a wire that i have coming out of the top right coil, i have under the screw for the coil, is this correct?


in this pic you can see the 3 wires i have by the coil, almost ready to solder, and you can see the wire im questioning in #3




in this pic you can see where the extra wire comes from im questioning in #1. does this mean there is a "high/low" charging wire like the chinese bikes? if so, which is which?

How about a netural switch?

nope, as you can see in the pic, it goes to the coil of wire. in fact, all but the black wire(that you solder to the capacitor) are wired into this coil. ive just never seen it like this, and havnt seen other kits like this

That is pretty strange as I just installed one from CHP within the last few weeks and mine had only the GRN, BLK & YEL wires, just like the harness of my K0. Does the Red wire go to the unpopulated terminal of the bikes harness?

Yep. And since it comes from the same coil as the "lighting" coil, it leads me to believe it's a high/low setup... But I'm not sure

wrong parts,look at the ct70 stator kit in the picture, chp that is..different plug connection,looks like a cdi style stator kit to me.

But it has the same plug as my original, and same colors match up to the same wire locations as the original, it just adds another wire/connector in the stock open location

so is that an exciter wire?
I know you're in a rush. I orered mine from ebay seller "vrocks" and it was almost $40 but it shipped from CO to DC in 2 days.

Actually the wires don't match the colors. I'm pretty much just gonna try it then figure out the voltage if I get it running.

70 ct70H. I had a 2 week wait for them to come back in stock, and it looks as if they just threw a different one on instead of the "H" specific kit

Well, it works!! Decided to kick it over and 2 kicks later, it runs! Runs pretty freekin good too. I havnt got the chance to do any probing of the worries and see if the charging circuit works. I'll hop on that tomorrow early and report my results. Though, sounds like my cam chain is loose... As long as it runs or just a bit to show it off, I'll fix it when I get home.
