Back in April 2024, I bought 24 weather beaten and rotted Honda CT70’s from a church camp in Grand Rapids, MI. The camp was part of a program Honda sponsored for many years, called “The National Youth Project Using Minibikes”. The camp had around 100 bikes, left behind after they closed in the early 80’s. I bought the 24 oldest bikes.

11 of the bikes have been rebuilt by myself or new owners and have gone to new homes in Iowa, Detroit, Cincinnati and a couple here in Indiana. The next bike up, #12, is being rebuilt for an event in Moab, UT, in Sept/Oct 2025. I’ll be riding this bike, along with 29 other riders, on a 625 mile / 7 day adventure thru the red rocks of Moab. The event is called “The Great American Monkey 1000”, for anyone interested in looking up more details.

I wish I could ride the bike all the way to Moab and back, but time restraints are limiting me to haul it to Denver, leave my vehicle at in-laws, ride the bike 6 hours to Moab, participate in the 7 day event, then ride back to Denver. The bike will be outfitted with a Lifan 125cc for the trip. Obviously, as the pics show, I’ve got a lot of work ahead of me, but it will be the next project for the new year.

First step: secure a title, so it will be street legal. Police inspection completed today.

I have a junk frame that I’ve already cut pieces out of if you want an original Honda piece to go in that one bad spot.….if interested just let me know and I’ll cut it out and mail it to you..it would be my donation to your cause…although I’m sure with all your parts and bikes you may already have a donor frame..? Lol

Thanks Robert, I appreciate the offer. I was in the steel business for 40 years, before retiring, I’ve got lots of sheet metal at the shop. This bike will have multiple modifications, to help it hold up to 600+ miles in Moab, I’m not too worried about keeping it original.
