I have been trying to get on the lilhonda website the last couple days via my Microsoft Surface RT tablet running Windows 8.1. I keep getting "this page cannot be displayed" error. Error states turn on SSL 3.0 DSL 1.0 TLS 1.1 and TLS 2.2. I have done all those things and still cannot get on the website via my tablet. I am currently posting this thread with my cell phone

I've been unable to recreate this error. I've tried all browsers on multiple platforms (including MS Edge). Is this issue still occurring, and if so, can you please provide some additional information?

I had another user email me with the same problem. They were on Windows 7 using IE11. Are you also using IE on the tablet? Lastly, do you receive this error on any other website when using the tablet? After a google search, it would appear that this is a pretty common issue with IE11, though it appears to happen more often under Windows 7 and 8.

Yes I am using ie11 on my tablet which is running Windows 8.1. 8.1 is not a full version of windows, it is all app based so I can't run .exe files. And no other Internet browsers are available in the app store. I have tried everything I can think of and have researched to resolve the issue but have found nothing yet. I did get rid of the error from post number 1, but still get the page can't be displayed. So far I have not had the page can't be displayed on another websites.

Please go to https://www.howsmyssl.com and post your results. Make sure you are using IE11 on your Windows 8.1 tablet.

Thanks

I can reach this page what do you want me to post? At the top of the page it's says "your SSL client is probably ok" and all the sub categories say good.

Is this what my results are?

I really think this issue is on the server end. This problem started early August. I have done everything I have researched and could think of with no success. Has anything been update via software? Certificates? Anything?

I say this because I have another backup surface RT tablet, exactly the same as my daily user, I fired that up and got the same exact page camt be displayed error. I also got a notice that we windows hadn't been updated in over 30 days, so I can confirm this error isn't a windows update causing the error. Something else has changed/updated around August 1st to the 5th.

Sorry for the delay. Here is the message that I just received from support:

Internet Explorer 11 on Windows 8.1, 7, and XP do not support the proper TLS 1.2 ciphers that are considered secure. The ones they were using were recently disabled as 'weak'. SSL is functionally worthless if the encryption used for the connection is weak and easily broken. Unfortunately I do not believe that Microsoft is going to be updating IE11 or Windows 8.1 and older to support modern SSL/TLS Ciphers as they want people to move to Windows 10.

We do host thousands of e-commerce platforms that rely on strong and modern encryption to protect private and confidential data transmission. I wish we could make this change on the server for you directly but it's not possible to set ciphers by account or domain. We can't lessen SSL security server-wide for those that want to support a no-longer-supported OS and Browser combination.
Unfortunately, that leaves me with very few options. One suggestion however, was to use CloudFlare on the domain to route traffic through, and allow TLS 1.1. I'll research this option, but again, I'm hesitant to lessen SSL security on the domain for just a handful of individuals using end-of-life browsers.

Thanks,

Ben - crazy stuff! Today I was able to get onto LilHonda.com using IE11. I did have about 4 x Windows updates earlier this week - maybe the issue fixed itself with the updates?

Good to hear! And this was on a Windows 7 machine? Can you please post those recent Windows updates? Release dates and screenshots would help also.

Thanks!

I'm back too. Here is a screen shot of the updates. I am not sure exactly which updated saved me.

Here you do - using Windows 7, looks like there were 4 updates installed. The odd thing is that they were all related to Microsoft Office 2010 and Microsoft Office 2013. I see that lukelaw1 also have a Microsoft Office 2013 update as well.

I'm definitely not a tech guy, so I'm about the end of my limits on how everything interacts - just glad we're back up and running!
