As a newbie, I searched and didnt see anything.
Whats a possible cause of the ticking sound when the bike leans to the left ? Sounds like its under shifter side cover.
Only hear it when sitting still not while riding.

Probably as common as fork seals......
Thanks for bearing with me........ Cam chain?

you may be right.it could be a loose timing chain.the best approach is,engine off. pull the cam cover and see how loose the chain is.then reinstall before this next idea if needed..also you can adjust the chain on a 72 by pulling the bolt next to the drain plug.there is a adjuster inside that uses a flathead screwdriver to adjust, after you loosen the nut and the locking screw on the lower left side case in front of the shifter.you can do it when the bike is at idle.to hear if the noise goes away.it's a good idea to check your valve lash also.another thing comes to mind is pull the lower tappet cover and then start it,and quickly check for good oil flow.to see if the ''tiny''oil oriface that feeds the head is clogged or''low flow''.im going by the super dirty oil that came out,on this one possibility.

I had the identical problem. It was a loose drive chain. The loose front sprocket rattles. Once I tightened the chain, the noise went away.
