So I recently bought a CT90 K3 I believe (11-71) the guy I bought it from had an Arizona title not in his name that had been signed by the owner (the name on the title) and had been typed in the name of the new buyer (not the guy I bought it from). He also had a title transfer form from Arizona signed by both the seller and buyer. It seems like the original buyer/seller were kin somehow because they have the same last name. Anyways the second owner never processed the paperwork and got the title transferred into his name. To top it all off all of the paperwork is signed and dated from 1994!!! I believe everything is legit but I’m not sure how to go about getting the title transferred into my name and state, I live in Texas. Has anyone ever dealt with anything like this before? Any and all info is greatly appreciated.

I would not accept a title that had been signed by someone else as the buyer. They have to bring it to dmv and give you a title that allows you to sign as the buyer. Looks like you have a problem...

Right on, I may be lucky I got a text from the guy I bought it from this evening with the contact info of the guy he bought it from who is the buyer on the original title. He claims he called him and he was ok signing what ever paperwork he needed to. I’m going to contact him tomorrow and see if this is all true. If so maybe it will be ok. If not I guess I’ll have to go the with the bonded title route. You live and learn I guess. On the other hand I did get a LOT of parts in the deal. So if anyone is in the Dallas area needing CT90 parts hit me up they are free to a good home.

I contacted the original buyer today, he seemed to be good with everything. It was his cousin that he got the bike off of in 94. We came to the conclusion that it would be easiest to let him transfer the title into his name and then “sell” the bike to me. I have to have a little faith in humanity and mail him the title. I will pay for all of the fees. We will see how it goes . I have learned a lesson on this deal and hopefully it will be a easy lesson and not a hard one. I’ll keep everyone posted of how it goes.
