Ok, who here has ever wondered who got the engine with the vin that matches their frame, or vise versa? I have for awhile, so I came up with this. My K1 frame is CT70 2054761 engine is CT70E 254171 My K3 frame is CT70 2331653, dont know engine Anyone got a match? Feel free to post your own too
I have an ST90 bike with an ST90 engine with no serial number at all. It is totally blank where the serial number should be. My guess is something happened to the original left side center case and a dealer had to order this one that is blank. Rick
If it gets stickied the name should be changed to something that suits the thread more, like VIN matching or something
We have two HK0's that are about as close as youre going to find: 1. Frame serial #: 147079 Engine serial #: 147077 2. Frame serial #: 147023 Engine serial #: 147019
:yikes: Thats scary close. Did you buy those two bikes from the same person? Those almost had to have come as a pair from the dealership to have VIN #'s so close. Either that or you are a lucky man. The only closer Ive seen is a blue/green HK0 that was on ebay a while back that was only 1 digit away from the frame and engine being an exact match. Maybe the 4 speeds had more of a"quality control" when it came to putting engines on the frame :39: Ps: Thanks for the sticky RacerX
We did buy them from the same person. Titles included. Do you remember what the 1 digit HK0 went for on ebay?
I'd be willing to bet money that Q/C had nothing to do with the distance between VINs & engine SNs. There were just fewer 4-speeds manufactured, less chance for the two numbers to drift out-of-sequence on the line, simple as that.
Wow, thats incredible. I have a feeling you will be the only one, but I hope not!! I wonder if honda had a guy who stamped the numbers on,they sure look consistant
Well I got one "match" Gold KO with a NOS LH case that had no stamp so frame VIN got stamped: 143405 I still don't know the original LH case number but Racerx can supply it.
I have a engine CT70E-125123 which isnt even close to my frame no. Turns over with compression, willing to trade if some one is interested before I start a tear down

That's the original motor. They're usually hundreds apart. Yours is actually pretty close. Definitely early production.
