want to replace stock st90 engine with lifan 125cc, need guidance..

hey everybody,
this is my first post and i'm happy to be here..:)

I have a 74 yellow st90

my stock engine's kick start broke off, and i'm having leaks from the carb..
even though I have a spare kick start rod, i'm figuring it would be easier to just throw a new engine on there instead of cracking the case and replacing all the seals etc... not to mention the extra power would be nice..

after some research it looks like the li-Fan is the way to go,,
this is the 125cc i'm eying.

the only thing is, i've noticed this is a 12v system, and everything on my bike is set up as 9v stock..

can you guys give me some tips on what I would need to do/parts I would need to get to complete this install?
and does this li-fan have an electronic start? *from my reading, I think it does, that would be sweeeet*
If my idea sounds daft let me know if you have a better/easier solution..

the eng mount bolt pattern on these lifans are the same as a 50cc or a 70cc honda, but I think there is a bracket kit avail? check out CHP or DRATV


I just put one of these on a CT70 frame, no elect start.

The power is great though!!!

Sorry I cant answer your electrical questions, but I can tell you the power of the Lifan 125 is great! Mine hauls my 265lbs around just fine, I havent confirmed it but I would guess it will push 50mph easy. Guess I better check it with a GPS just to know for sure, unless I chicken out before it tops out!

The mounting pattern on a lifan 125 is different that the ST90. It has a three hole pattern different than the lifan two hole. It is not a direct bolt on. I think CTbale is right there maybe a kit to aid in mounting. i seem to remember seeing one before. the electrical will have to be converted from a the stock 6volt to 12v to have everything running right.
