I don't mean to beat a dead horse here, a quick google search presents some, but not a whole lot of threads, and the search function here is basically worthless, so here I am.

I plan to mod the original battery box, but as many of you know, the space between the gas tank and where the back of the frame curves up isn't much larger than than the 6v battery. Can I get away with something like this? I'm running all LED, and obviously no electric start.

Thanks for you time, especially you racerx because I know you contribute to almost every thread I've ever found helpful here! Haha

The battery I saw in the linked photo won't work, AFAICT. It's also way too small in terms of charge capacity. 12v/5.0ah, in sealed AGM flavor, is a known quantity...double the charge capacity and can be shoehorned into the stock location. Here's a pic of my daily rider, complete with 3.5L tank, CDI, full-wave reg/rec & electronic lighting control module. Your machine will have a lot more real estate in this part of the frame. It's still a tight fit but, having just enough room beats the hell out of "just missing".

It IS the UB1250 that racerx is running. But check the dims of that battery against the dims of your battery box. racer's B-box is custom built to fit both the battery, and the available space for it.

I am thinking I can massage that one into there. Is there a better battery for the roughly 3"x3" space my 6v battery uses

Not that I am aware of. But, there are a LOT of batteries out there. JPardue once recommended a very small 12v camcorder battery for me to use on a Z50 project. Mostly just to have some sort of battery power in the system. I would never have thunk it...camcorder battery.

I think that ub battery will be too tall. You'll have to sink it somehow.

It's not the height that is the limiting factor, it's the width.

It only has to sorta match the height of the gas cap. There's plenty of extra seat pan height in this area.

I’ll make it fit. It’s the rest of the wiring I’m worried about. Going to change out the battery bulbs and rectifier and see what happens.
