Wingnut's 2015 College & NFL Season Thread

Wingnut says, "BRING ON THE CHIEFS & BRONCOS TONIGHT!!!" Both teams are 1-0, both teams are fired up at the start of a new season, what's not to like??? Which team will win? Tough call, but they ARE playing in Arrowhead Stadium... and my brother Chris lives in Missouri (right by the Lake of the Ozarks), so I reckon Wingnut and I will go with the Chiefs. Peyton & Crew may prove us wrong, but that's okay, it wouldn't be the first time and it probably won't be the last, 10-4??? Hmm, Little Wing just reminded me that we're gonna need more beer... the blasted varmint drinks more than I do, go figure. Well, it's a beautiful day here in Dago, the weather FINALLY cooled off and the humidity is quite reasonable, so as soon as I'm done with work for the day, I'm gonna wrench on my pedal bike and my monkeybike. The pedal bike (7-speed Schwinn Cruiser) just needs to be cleaned and oiled, while the monkeybike needs an oil change and those new piston slides, which I never got around to replacing earlier. I want the bike to be ready for a primo ride next week, I'd go mañana but I gotta pull chauffeur duty, which blows the entire day as far as monkeybiking goes. When I go monkeybiking, same as when I go sailing, I don't want ANYTHING else on the agenda.

Okay, it's not the NFL, but I'm gonna drag my carcass out to the living room and watch some college football, I slept in REALLY LATE, because I was up till 0200 or 0300, 10-4??? All the things I was gonna do this morning (roof coating, aquarium, etc.) just got pushed back 24 hours, LOL. However, I WILL get those piston slides in later this afternoon... unless there are some REALLY GOOD GAMES on TV, LOL. Good Lord, I can't remember when I slept in this late, maybe this is some sort of subconscious rebellion against life in general. Or it could've been those rum drinks on top of all those beers, LOL.

Got the aquarium cleaned and gave myself another Waffen SS cut, we have more warm weather on the way... and some rain by late Monday or early Tuesday, so I really gotta roll that elastomeric coating on the flat roof sections tomorrow morning, before the games start. No big deal, it doesn't take long, and I can cook breakfast at halftime in the Chokers game. Early to bed tonight, no staying up till 0300, 10-4???

This Ole Miss-Alabama game is pretty good, Wingnut gives it two thumbs up... but he's really fired up for tomorrow's NFL lineup, as televised here on the freakin' Left Coast:

Chokers at Bengals

49ers at Steelers

Cowboys at Eagles

Seahawks at Packers

I'm thinking Bengals, Steelers, Cowboys & Packers, though I'm hoping the Chokers somehow pull out a victory, LOL. :21:

Wingnut says, "ROLL, TIDE!!!" :18: Awesome TD, never write off the Crimson Tide when they're down a lousy 14 points. I like the Rebels too, and this has always been a good rivalry on the gridiron.

Wingnut says: "THE CHOKERS SUCK!!! LET'S WATCH THE STEELERS GAME!!! YO, SIDEWINDER, GRAB ANOTHER BEER FOR ME, WILL YA?!?"

LOL.

Holy Cr@p, did y'all see that "HONDA: THE POWER OF DREAMS" commercial, the long@$$ ad with the overlay (?) action, where the hand keeps throwin' down the strips or papers or whatever??? That was one heck of an ad, haven't seen THAT one before, LOL. Wouldn'tcha know it??? The Chokers have made it a 1-point game, while the Steelers are STOMPIN' the 49ers, LOL.

Edit: Okay, I Googled "Honda: The Power Of Dreams"---evidently, there are several versions of this ad, or else there is a series of ads under this title... the times of the videos don't match, and neither do the cover pics. Anyway, that was a good ad, the one I just saw a few minutes ago, I guess these 2-minute ads are part of some advertising campaign by Honda. I didn't see the whole ad, but if there was no monkeybike in there, I'm gonna write a strongly-worded e-mail of complaint to the makers of the ad, and TEAR 'EM OFF A STRIP FOR NOT INCLUDING A MONKEYBIKE!!!

"WTF IS WRONG WITH YOU W@NKERS?!?!? NO MONKEYBIKE?!?!? DAMN, GET SOME PROFESSIONAL HELP!!!!!"

LOL.

Hey, check it out, my picks have been spot on for the first three games!!! "GO, PACK, GO!!!" :21:  :21:

Wingnut says: "DAMN, SIDEWINDER, YOU DA MAN!!! EVERY PICK RIGHT ON THE MONEY!!!"

LOL. Actually, I had no money riding on today's games, but seeing Pete Carroll take a beating was worth every unpaid moment, BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! :4:

Wingnut just hollered: "C'MON, CHOKERS!!! YOU SORRY-@$$ MO..." [Insert loud and prolonged vinyl scratching noise here.]

LOL. Gotta censor that Wingnut Fool, the same way Mr. T used to say, "SHUT UP, FOOL!!!" Tough love, it's the ONLY method that works with this wild-eyed Wingnut varmint, more's the pity (sob). Anyway, this cold beer tastes pretty good, I had juice and coffee earlier but I haven't had breakfast yet, I'll do that number after a few more beers, LOL. No worries, I have some good leftovers to add to the mix today, so it'll be the main meal, probably won't need another afterward. Me beloved elderly mum is cool with the delay, I rigged her with coffee and a fresh crumb donut, just to stave off hunger till our actual breakfast is ready. I also bought her some flowers at the store this morning, the grocery chain is pulling stakes so there are great bargains to be had, including marked-down flowers (damn, I just revealed what a cheap b@stard I am, LOL). Meh, she'll never know, and the flowers are now rigged in a pretty vase, so me mum can enjoy them for a few days every time she walks by, "Roger???" Hey, y'all don't miss the moonrise tonight, we gots a LUNAR ECLIPSE IN PROGRESS AS THE MOON RISES, and the eclipse will finally end by leaving a full moon in its wake, or whatever the astronomical term is for that arc of progress. Cool sky show, and the price is right, LOL. Gotta go grab another round o' beer for me & Wingnut, he gets ornery if his mug runs dry, 10-4??? Damn, LOL. ADIOS!!! :red70:

Wingnut & I are watching the Lions-Broncos game... weird new regulation about not stacking the defense to either side during a FG attempt, that new reg just gave the Broncos another shot, this time successful, to put 'em up 17-12.

Wingnut: "These Green Bay Packers are SE-WIOUS!!!" :13:

Meh, maybe the Chiefs will get something going in the 4th Quarter, otherwise I'm hitting the ol' rack early tonight. :28:

Wingnut: "Dang, the Bills had a lot of penalties in that last game!!! Meh, C'MON, CHOKERS!!! Yo, Sidewinder, get me another BEER, will ya?!?" :43:

Y'all should've seen Taco & Wingnut earlier, they were sitting side by side on a nearby chair, with Wingnut alternately chewing Taco's head and tail, the little dawg just nonchalantly ignoring Wing, LOL. Wish I had a camera handy at the time, it was a hilarious scene. We're very happy with Taco, now that he has outgrown his fear of Sage, he makes a great watchdog here at the ol' hacienda, barking at all passersby, 10-4??? Just what I want him to do while I'm out camping & riding this winter. Wingnut likes little Taco too, they're like best buds right now, always chasing each other round the property, and playing hide-and-seek amid the furniture. Hilarious duo, Taco & Wingnut, I'll hafta get more pics of the knucklehaids with each disposable camera I buy. Alright, gotta go, I'm going beerless for now, lying on the living room couch and watching the Chokers, who just scored a TD. 7-3, Chokers, at the end of the 1st Quarter. No worries with going dry for now, I just had a big ol' (late) breakfast, so I'm too full to drink anyway... leaves more for Wingnut, that blasted varmint. Probably hafta get King Stahlman to bail him out of jail tomorrow morning, but meh... let the youngster have a little fun, LOL. :30:

Wingnut: "HOW ABOUT DEM CHOKERS?!?!?"

LOL... lucky @$$clowns. Meh, it might have been UGLY, but call it a WIN!!! Now we're watching the Cowboys and Saints down in "The Big Easy"---better matchup than I thought it would be, I guess the Cowboys have lost heaps of players due to injuries and whatnot. Nice quiet day here, had a visit from my brother John the estate attorney, he and I are gonna build some safety railings for our aging beloved mum, just to prevent any more falls down two short flights of stairs, you understand. Good man with tools, Brother John, and I'm not exactly incompetent. Wingnut will supervise on the job, beer in hand, LOL. Oh, well, SOMEBODY has to do it, might as well be Little Wing, anybody else would get beaten up for interfering with our work and getting in the way, 10-4??? Damn. LOL. No future in telling us how to build stuff, except of course for youse MONKEYBIKING HEROES telling me how to rig this offroad thrasher... and for THAT I am eternally grateful, LOL. My bro is a real hand when it comes to motorcycles, he rides around on a 1947 BSA 650, a "BEEZER" from WAY back in the day. HE could figure out the monkeybike no problem, I reckon, but he's too damned busy living his life. I should try to get a pic or two of his bike to post sometime soon, you guys would appreciate those pics. He got the bike from my brother Robert (now deceased), a banker and financial consultant who gathered a collection of classic old British bikes: Triumphs, Nortons, BSAs, even an old Vincent worth a fortune, if I recall correctly. All told, he had about 9 or 10 bikes, each a freakin' classic, though some of 'em may not have LOOKED it, LOL.

I last saw my bro Robert in 1979 when I visited London and rode a couple of those bikes. My bro bought that bike in my avatar for me, my very first cycle... I was going through a bad time Stateside and that was my bro's way of helping me out, 10? Good man, my bro Robert, perhaps some of his wisdom rubbed off on me, I just didn't know it at the time, being young (17) and confused. RIP, Brother Robert... I think I should dedicate my next monkeybike ride to your memory, even if we later grew apart. Anyway, I never told y'all about that bike in my avatar: it's a 1979 N-V-T "Easy Rider" moped, 49cc but with a 4-speed gearbox, so it did "double nickel" no problem, the fastest moped in town once I brought it back to Coronado, the cheesy Puch mopeds couldn't touch it, LOL. Good bike, I learned a lot on it, and I miss it to this day... oddly enough, I can't even remember what happened to it, I know it took a $h!tload of abuse before going kaput, and I was off somewhere else when it met its demise, or got shipped back to London, or whatever. By the way, that N-V-T stood for NORTON-VILLIERS-TRIUMPH, three HUGE NAMES in British engineering... I think Villiers also made machine guns for aircraft WAY BACK in the day, LOL. Alright, enough on that topic, now y'all know about the bike in my avatar, that shot was taken in the front yard of my bro's house on Overhill Road in Dulwich (or Dull Itch, as I called it, LOL), next to Forest Hill (excellent pub there), about five miles south of the City of London. Man, that was a LONNNNNG TIME AGO, so much has happened since then, I can't even BEGIN to remember it all... CRS again, of course.

Alright, now y'all know more of my past than ya ever knew, LOL, and I need to check out the end of this Cowboys-Saints game, so this is where we part ways, like "Cowboys" in the Old West. Not sure where your trail leads... mine leads to the fridge for another cold beer before I watch the end of this game. ADIOS, MONKEYBIKING HEROES & CRUSTY MINI DEMONS O' DIRT!!! LOL.

:red70: :yellow70: :red70: :yellow70: :red70:

Wingnut: "WE'RE GOING TO OVERTIME IN THE BIG EASY, WOOHOO!!!"

Sidewinder: "IT AIN'T OVER TILL THE FAT LADY SINGS..."

Wingnut: "DAMN, THAT WAS QUICK... TD #400 FOR DREW BREES, ACCORDING TO AL MICHAELS!!! JEEZ!!!"
