XR75 Question

Good evening all, I picked up a 1978 xr75 that seized 10 yrs ago and has sat in a basement since that day. unfortunetly prior to opening the motor I grabbed the back wheel by hand and spun it in 1st gear to break what I thought was a seized piston loose. SADLY upon tear down the prior owners Dad failed to tighten the cam sprocket upon rebuild top end and 1 of the bolts worked its way out and locked the motor when it pinched between the cam sprocket and cyl.head.
When I broke the motor free apparently I snapped the cam sprocket in two and also broke the cam chain. I have pulled the head and cylinder off and fished the sprocket out (all 2 pieces) and the cam chain as well. MY QUESTION--- does anyone know of a company that sells a cam chain for an xr75 that has a master link is there such a thing? If not, I have to split the case and have not experienced that on a CT,Z or XR and not really looking forward to it.
Thanks for any advice. Rich

I don't think you're going to find one with a master link. I have not changed a cam chain on an XR75 so I could be wrong here but I don't think you have to split the cases, should be an easy change.

After a little more research, the later model xr75 does not have the removable stator plate. It is a solid block. Talked with my favorite Honda mechanic and he suggested on an old cb400 or 450 they had a miserable timing chain and it is one of the only Hondas he could recall that had a masterlink, he looked up the part number and Honda still has it in stock for 6.00. Needless to say I ordered one to see if it is the same size as the xr75 chain, if so he has the correct press and will help me out. If not same size here comes splitsville.
