Year? Z50

I have a Z50 with a frame number of 279118 that says it's a K2 but the VIN plate said that it was produced in 2/70. The engine number is 263302 that should be a K1. I think the frame and engine numbers are too far apart to be matched together. Thoughts?

Those early Z50s seem to have plenty of oddball overlaps, but that engine/frame gap does sound bigger than a factory pairing. The 2/70 plate is probably the best clue for dating the frame.

The dealer that my K1 came from always put frame and engine numbers on the receipt. A number of years ago this K2 from the same dealer came up locally for sale on Craigslist. Included was the original receipt- sold at the end of July of 71 you can see it's numbers are even farther apart than yours. So you can see they can have a large overlap but I'm not sure that Honda would put a K1 serial engine into a K2. Weird things happened but that seems wrong
