Z50A k4 questions

My friend baught a Z50A K4 for his son to learn to ride on. He's doing great but it looks like the bike is missing some things. The side cover is gone and I'm not sure what it is suppose to cover? Battery? It doesn't have an ignition switch did these come with one? I see the wiring harness has the plugs for headlight and tail light but I don't see a rectifier anywhere. Were about to take the forks apart because they are wobbly (i'm thinking the plastic is missing inside the fork tubes) and are thinking about getting the lights back on. I looked at the diagrams on Dr.ATV and I dont see where a battery goes at all. Any elp is appreciated as I'm new to Z50's.

I'm not the Z50 expert but, I don't believe this bike had a battery. Lights can be powered with AC, so only a capacitor would be needed to eliminate the battery & selenium rectifier.

Correction:
Last week, I tore down a Z50A K5, for total restoration. Went looking through the bin with the wiring, no capacitor found, just bullet connectors. Sorry for the "senior moment"...:35:

does it have a battery bracket? most of the time the front and rear lights will run direct from the motor and there will be a battery "line" that runs indicators, horn, applied brake etc. this is for the australian models.

The capacitor is on the battery line and it uses these items to control power surge.

as for the front and rear lights you will need both bulbs in and properly grounded, they draw enough volts/amps together so they dont blow.

Do you have 2 coils under the flywheel or just one?

Thanks for the info everyone. There is no battery box for sure. It seems this bike is missing a few things, I just wasn't sure if that was one of them.
