    Fuel gain kit, EFI mod

    Hi,
    I am sure that this isn't brand new but it is new to me and wanted the pros input and maybe some member from across the pond may have more input/feedback. I would really like to know how it really works. I haven't watched all there videos but websites are terrible and offer very little information.

    A good explanation will be lengthy. EFI must be perfectly dialed-in, via various maps, for any specific application. That takes a lot of resources... time, testing and specialized knowledge. From-scratch setups are primarily the realm of OEMs.

    A custom setup for a 1970s-era 72cc Honda will be a roll-your-own proposition. You'll have to be your own tech advisor and know where to source any parts needed, for as long as you own the system and want to use it. In addition to complicated, it won't be cheap. The up-front investment will likely be a multiple of what it would cost to source a lifetime supply of replacement carburetors & rebuild kits.

    This might be viable in the future. In case the future is "now" in the form of this "kit", I'd still want to get a couple years worth of feedback...i.e. actual field service experience...before jumping in. IDK, brand-new daily drivers are one thing, aftermarket, specialty, machines another. On the automotive side, we still see more EFI engines adapted for use with a carburetor than the other way around, and EFI is well into its fourth decade.

    I have a buddy that said he might buy a fuel gain kit for a 110cc quad or something. I thought he told me the kit was around 250 but the programmable kit was more. I will double check with him.

    A viable and dependable kit for that kind of money would really be a breakthrough. Retrofitting a small Honda, with limited real estate and even more limited electrical output, is going to be quite a challenge of its own. You definitely want user-programmability, unless the kit has been setup for your, specific, motor & exhaust.

    Be aware, there are still some alpha-N setups that only use throttle position & rpm inputs, no O2 trim. These are far simpler but they give up a lot in terms of tunability and efficiency.

    That said, if there's a sub-$500 system that delivers the goods...ease of cold starting, crisp throttle response, more mpg and OEM dependability...count me in.

    I have an update on the fuel gain kit. The programmable kit will run you $250 plus $57 shipping. My buddy has one in his possession. I hope he will be making a how to video for install and etc.

    That seems really inexpensive by comparison to Bazzaz or Power Commander for a Grom or Z125.
