    jetting vm20

Not sure if this helps you. I am running a VM 20 on my 108cc Nice engine, 150 main, 22.5 pilot, I tried different needles (4D20, 4L6, 4J13). With lots of test runs I ended up with the 4J13 needle in the center setting. With the 170 main it definitely is too rich, a 160 may work, but I don't...

    What engine is this?

After some carb cleaning, an oil change and minor carb needle adjustments the bike runs really well now. Today on the I35 frontage road with pretty decent winds I did 50 mph against the wind and about 65 mph in the other direction. It pulls strong throughout the entire rpm band. And it looks...

    What engine is this?

Seriously, it may be for sale at some point. I went through the bonded title process and should receive the title later this year. My 10 year old (who I bought it for to teach him to ride a bike with manual transmission) lost interest. But first the fun part, sorting a few more little issues!

    What engine is this?

The new owner that would be me :) And yes, I bought it from my good friend Chris dZ. I am still very appreciative for all the advice you gave me. I am still running the VM 20, although I must say I haven't touched the bike much in the last 1.5 years or so. I think something may be going on...

    What engine is this?

Hi everyone, haven't been on here for a year or more, so maybe I have asked this before, but I am old so please forgive me :2: Can someone tell me what motor this is? It is a Honda 108cc, so probably from a "Nice" model? I have to tackle some charging issues, so I will probable need to ask a...

    110 cc engine in a 1969 CT 70

OMG, runs amazing now! Installed the VM 20 carb out of the box, used base settings from the VM 22 (Main #150, needle 2nd richest, pilot 22.5). Has better bottom end and midrange, and even top speed increased I think. Had it up to 55 mph in no time and was still accelerating a bit more. I...

    110 cc engine in a 1969 CT 70

A little more playing around with mains and needles got me to a point where I decided to order a VM 20 carb. With a #160 main and the needle at the leanest setting I got the bike to over 60 mph, however throttle response in mid range was really bad. Since I will mainly use te bike to let the...

    Mikuni VM 22 carb

Does anyone know why there are so large price differences? For example there is this model on ebay that sells for $30 (incl. shipping) Mikuni Carburetor for Honda XR50 CRF50 Carb | eBay which seems to be an original Mikuni VM carb. And then there are these models Mikuni VM22 Round Slide 22mm...

    110 cc engine in a 1969 CT 70

Love the bike, just took it on a 2,300 mls trip from CenTx thru Arkansas all the way to (almost) St Louis and back. Never let me down...oh wait, forgot the voltage regulator that failed and caused my battery to get cooked :-)

    110 cc engine in a 1969 CT 70

Are you Bob from Houston who set up this bike? I admit I haven't kept perfect track of what I was testing so I will report back with a more scientific baseline in the next days, but it seems that with a #150 main, clip needs to be on the leanest or second leanest position. That allows me to rev...

    110 cc engine in a 1969 CT 70

I haven't really paid too much attention to the plug at idle, focused more on mid range and top end. With the #160 main, needle needs to be in the leanest position and even then it doesn't rev out well, with the #150 main (current set-up), the richest I can go is the 2nd leanest position (2nd...

    110 cc engine in a 1969 CT 70

So I have done some testing, have #150, #160, #170 mains, #20, #22.5 and #25 pilots available and tried most combinations. Here is what I found. Main jet does not have as much of an impact as needle clip. With the clip in the leanest (or second leanest) position, engine revs out fine, however...

    110 cc engine in a 1969 CT 70

Thanks Kirrbby, but it's getting hot in CenTX, no need for a head cover :18:

    110 cc engine in a 1969 CT 70

Ok, learned something today. I disassembled the carb again to dip it in carb cleaner and voila, realized that the jet was screwed into the bowl... I confused the piece with the O-ring that is screwed into the bottom of the needle jet with the main jet. Had never seen something like this before...
