1974 CT70 stalls new owner, new to forum

Sounds like 2 things are happening. Fuel flow seems to be an issue, and also a tune up is probably needed as indicated by the backfiring. On the fuel flow issue, you can rule out the gas cap simply by running the bike for a while with it removed. No stall = replace that cap. But i think Old...

    Carb/ running issues

Not racerx but i will offer my 2 cents anyway. The rubber from the metal ones will fit the plastic tanks too. I can only guess that on the plastic tanks they are there for a snug fit, and no rattling sound. But I suspect that the pads were on the metal ones were more important, to reduce the...

new gas cap, the tank is fine - it's the cap that is faulty.

    Carb/ running issues

It sounds like a fuel delivery issue to me, like it is getting fuel at first but not enough to keep going. have you checked whether you have steady fuel flow through the lines, or maybe run it with the gas cap off. sometimes a faulty fuel cap vent can cause this.

    EXPIRED carb for sale

Cleaning out some unused parts from my garage stash - i have this carb that i bought from dr. atv a few years back: CT70 1969_KO_THRU_1977 "STANDARD" REPLACEMENT CARB_READ (300011) All the specs on it are at the link above - it's a quality carb and it works and is in excellent condition. I...

    Carb cap removal

If you have the slide assembly off, you should be able to just slide it off - meaning pull the carb cap assembly downwards so the cable slides through it. As b52 says, the barrel end of the cable sometimes gets stuck in the elbow but a good yank will usually get it free. maybe put a dab of...

    WTB: K0 lower fork legs

I need a set of the lower, chrome legs. They must be in very good condition - straight and not rusty. Don't need to be perfect though. Please let me know what you have and what you want for them. I can pay cash or have some parts I can offer in trade. Thanks.

    Valve adjustment and other questions

I don't know about answer #3 on your list, but I would def. go ahead and adjust those valves. If you are at all mechanically inclined, the valve adjustment is a cinch.
