Valve timing sprocket 180 out ok?

I hear it doesn't matter if the circle on the valve train sprocket is matched with the notch on the case but on the other side as long as it's in line with the notch 180 degrees off. On the right instead of left side.

Installed new aftermarket carburator from CHP #Z244 on Z50

Finally had it with the original unit that came on it. Pretty much simple connection with no installation real issues. Seem to respond better and starts / runs better for sure. However at full throttle the engine seems to be holding back or retarded er..mechanically challenged.:33: My next...

    Carburator rebuild service

Well......searching on Ebay no matches for me. Quick measurements of my current set up 38mm between c/c bolt holes and 13mm hole. 26mm air filter end. Most if not all in the search are nowhere near my needs.

    Carburator rebuild service

Yes I suspect the bolt holes will not match up. will go with the advise of dirtbkr188 and look for an XR50 carb.

    Carburator rebuild service

Yes, I see those cheap brand new carbs on Ebay. I have NO problem going that route but which one would work on my early Z50? Then is it screw on and go or what else is involved at that point? I hate to see it sitting in the garage getting dusty. 1970 Z50

    Carburator rebuild service

I have had it with my early carb on my Z50. Instead of having it just sit in a corner of my garage because I cant get it to run properly, was looking for a person or place I could send the carb to be repaired. There is something wrong, missing or out of adjustment with it and I am DONE.

At wits end with this carb...video!

https://youtu.be/rOJR2W38bQg Cleaned and replaced parts with rebuild kit. Same problems: I have to have the choke on full to start then when I lower level it revs more and more. I have adjusted the screws to no avail. What I really cant understand is the total lack of throttle response.

Does the jet that controls the float level arm make contact with the float arm with the solid point or the retractable pin side?

    Carburator: Rebuild or replace ?

Last time I put it back on..fuel poured out of bowl line onto garage floor, started it ran for about 1 minute and died never to start again..leads me to think float setting. In either case I will go ahead and get a rebuild kit (I have yet to do this just cleaned it since I got it) Tell me...

    Carburator: Rebuild or replace ?

Having big problems with the carb on my Z50. Have disassembled & cleaned it a few times, just doesn't operate properly when I reinstall. I would really like to replace it but don't seem to see any reproduction carbs for early (69-71) engines. h

Just cant seem to get these little engines to ever run good...or run at all!!

Just cant seem to get these little engines to ever run good...or run at all!!

YES, I did fail to mention the Enormous help I have received from the fine folks on here (seriously). Would not have gotten as far as I have on the original Z-50. This thread is starting to explore the realms of the human condition, taking on quite a life of its own. I have noticed the written...
