    Let's get this CT70 K0 back together!

Hi Guys, I'm back to working on this bike. It's finished as we know, but I'm trying to get it to run like it should. As noted in the thread, I have a 65 main jet in here and I'm at 2700 ft. The bike is not temperamental when it is cold/first start, but once it gets warmed, I noticed that it's...

I've never used tank sealer out of restoring 15 1970s motorcycles in 10 years. Big tip. Klean Strip "Prep and Etch" from Home Depot is cheap, and will do everything that's asked of any tank restoration. Soak for 24 hours. Rinse. No need to "neutralize." Then run. I've never had a motorcycle...

    Let's get this CT70 K0 back together!

Always appreciate your responses racerx. It's been quite awhile since I left you hanging on this one. I fired it up last week. First or second kick with choke on. Idled correctly. Put it in gear, and just went. Once in awhile I have some trouble kicking it into 3rd gear, but it's pretty...

    Let's get this CT70 K0 back together!

Well, it ain't rich for sure. I have the clip on the 4th position from the richest. 3rd (center) works well too. 2nd position (lean) doesn't work very well, harder to tune. So I think I may be in the ball park with the 65 main jet. Still working on clutch adjustment. I've been loosening it...

    Let's get this CT70 K0 back together!

Alright, long time, but I'm back. I replaced the c-clip because the one that was on there is bent. I replaced the c-clip back to the center position on a new needle and installed that. Yay, I can idle again. It idles pretty smooth now, with about 1 3/4 turn from "in", which is right about...

    Let's get this CT70 K0 back together!

Intake valve was a bit lose. Drove it around the block. She seems pretty boggy on the low end with the 65 jet. I'm also having a hell of a time getting it running and stay running after it's warm. The longer it runs, the more boggy it gets on the low end. I'm thinking the 65 jet is a pretty...

    Let's get this CT70 K0 back together!

I moved the notch upwards one notch to lean it out some. My clip is now here: - x - - - I was able to start it up, let it idle (set the throttle) and it sounded "OK" . Idles pretty good from a cold start. There needs to be some more tuning done, but that is by far the best it's idled. I...

    Let's get this CT70 K0 back together!

Sure enough, it was installed wrong. Fixed it. Now I have a problem KEEPING it running. Needle is in center position. I may try leaner (lowering) needle. You make a change to bore and cam, and the carb all of a sudden becomes a pain... @racerx

    Let's get this CT70 K0 back together!

I did a rough measurement of mine, but it's definitely around 29mm... So looks like I have the wrong slide? It's a late model K0.... I will check to make sure I installed the throttle ferrule correctly. What do I need now to get this corrected?

Ahh. Maybe that’s the problem. Here you go Kirby. So I have the wrong cap and wrong cable? That would explain my issues.... Hopefully not the wrong slide.

Hmmm...that could be worth checking. Do you have dimensions of the K0 slide?

    Let's get this CT70 K0 back together!

On my K3, when I compress the slide, the cable is easily to remove from the slide. With the K0, it's a damn cussing nightmare....and only by luck I'm able to do it and it takes plyers and the whole works...and maybe 50 attempts. Sounds like I should confirm if the slide is bottoming out. You...

Here’s a pic showing while it’s fully compressed. I wonder if this is my problem. Cable too short?

    Let's get this CT70 K0 back together!

I messed around with it for quite awhile during the weekend. I'm back to thinking there's something up with the throttle cable. I know it's a reproduction. I wonder if the cable is too short. It is an absolute BEAR to get the slide detached from the cable as the "pin" doesn't come out of notch...
