12V Electrical Questions (Universal) on Jincheng JC70

I'm pretty sure that the 12V system on the Jincheng JC70 is the same or at least similar to that of the '91-94 CT70s. That being said, is it necessary to have a working battery (or just a battery, period) to get a spark since it's got CDI? The lights, signals, horn, etc. are in the trash because they're too damaged to be repaired, so that's all irrelevant. Which brings up another question—will the CDI and such remaining in the electrical system be affected by not having the lighting and other electrical accessories attached? Thanks! :red70:

My friends', or rather their dad, had this bike and left it for dead unprotected outside a number of years ago. It's only an '01 and is in FAR worse shape than my mom's old '70 CT70K0 was. Anyway, after getting the CT70 running a couple days ago, I suggested my friend go pick this bike up and see what could be done with it. They thought it had already been taken to the dump, but it was still out there, so they let my friend have it.

The frame was taped over with camo tape and everything else had been spray painted black. Sometime down the line, anything that could be destroyed had been busted up, the right handlebar bent, and the headlight spray painted over (suprised it and its housing weren't destroyed considering the speedo was). The carb was pretty, too.

So needless to say, it's COMPLETE junk, but the engine turns over which makes it at least seem possible to get running. Now it just needs a cheap replacement carb and whatever is needed to attain spark, as well as an ignition switch, chain, throttle assembly, and tube for the rear. Fingers crossed!
