I got my 76 ct 70 last week. I have wanted one for a long time. I remember seeing these in the mid eighties and I had arraigned to buy one from a neighbour kid at the cottage. The deal fell through and I was heart broken, that was going to be my first motorcycle. A few years later I got a Suzuki ds80, I learned a lot on that bike.
lately I have been riding trials, I have an 06 Sherco that I love but due to a recent accident trials might be over for me. I have wanted a ct70 for years, the perfect bike for camping and taking my dog for a walk. I hope to plate and insure this bike for the road. I found a bike for $300 relatively complete but not running. I have been fixing little things before getting it to run. Once I get it running I will want to ride it so I figure I should do the little things first! I have freed up the throttle cable and the front brakes, I have secured the loose exhaust and moved and welded the tab that is on the muffler, installed a new chain, gas tank soaked in vinegar, installed the front fender ( not the stock fender), ordered new points and condensor, they get here tomorrow.
Things to do:
clean carb
install points and condensor and set up adjust
cam chain tension
adjust valves
change oil
figure out the abortion of a wirring harness I have
The bearings in the neck seam good, wheel bearings will work for now. I just want to get it running and riding. This site is incredibly helpful! Thanks for all the info, see you on the trails soon I hope.
