Hello everyone New Here to the MIni Forum..... bikes 2, 1980 Honda trail 70's and 1, 1981 Honda Trail 70. Both were my Dads.

I Purchased a stator rebuild from TB on ebay. I wish the listing wouldve stated that the plug connector was different as well as that the kit doesnt give mena extra male open barrel wire terminal, or 22-18 gauge wire to make truly a kit for a 1980 Trail 70. I realixed after the fact that I should have just bought a new plastic wire harness and stator wire connector with wire terminals. I wish the listing would have the connector with terminals listed. Guess I shouldve bought the kit at eith TB or FatMX that way I couldve got the connector. Oh well now I know this for in the future. I am curious though if i have the wires set up correctly on the stator going down to the condenser.

On C.D.I. conversions ive seen one on ebay that states its capable of producing 6v or 12v and fits 50cc-140cc and other similar engines.
I also saw another kit thst comes with the stator plate stator 2 coil 6 wire w/ neutral safety light out put wire. Also comes with new flywheel as well. It doesnt come with the C.D.I. box though im unaware if any C.D.I. box for like the Crf70 will work? Fatmx has a few different C.D.I. boxes to choose from. Will just about any do? Also does the spark plug coil need to be changed over to another type or will a stock unit work? Will a Z50 stator plate stator flywheel and spark plug coil with wiring harness of course just bolt right on to a 1980 or earlier CT70 engine? I would think it would. The last C.D.I. is called I believe is OHCT.???conversion is one Ive seen shown on here. as well as similar or same cheaper units with out the C.D.I. box for great prices. Makes me wanna convert a few engines over once I figure out a few things anout the set up. Any help is really appreciated please and thank you.

If you are interested in changing to a cdi conversion buy from xrarespares on ebay. There are cheaper versions out there but not worth it. xrare guy sends instructions and replies to emails fast, if needed. You tell him what model/year and the name brand/type of flywheel you are using. You do not change the coil and you can leave the original regulator in place. You will have to install a 25w/25w headlight bulb from a CT90 dratv has it as the conversion kit produces more voltage to be able to light a 25w bulb. Nighttime rides become fun again. Unlike a points setup that cannot support it or light it up. You should also run the headlight at all times if running a 6V battery to avoid overcharging.
