I added some brackets for the oil cooler. It’s pretty tight so I had to cut the steering lock off the lower tree to get it to fit. I had a cross bar welded in and a female stud welded to the top of the frame for mounting it. I also wanted to go with 12 volts so I had to fit a 12 volt battery box into it. It’s removable for service. All the nuts used to assemble have been welded to the parts so I can just use bolts and washers. To fit the seat to this frame I had to have the rear hoop lowered about an inch. I also had to add a mount for the 12 volt regulator. It’s under the battery box. I wanted to eliminate the “V” at the tank and seat. I saw this done on another forum build and borrowed the idea. The tank and seat mount have been raised 3/4” and the lines look great. Also swapped out the swing arm for a ST90. It’s longer and a bit wider. It has a 15mm axel so all the rear wheel parts are for that swing arm. It will allow for a 16” rear wheel if I ever decide to go there. I also bought a 84 XR100 swing arm. It fits but adds another 2 inches to the length and I didn’t like the wheel that far back. I had to add 2” to the kickstand. I also had a bead added behind the key switch mount for strength; It was folded over when I got this bike and I was afraid it was weakened when I straightened it out. After a quick mock up I found that the rear fender doesn’t line up with the mounting bracket. I’m going to drill new holes and have the old ones filled. Going to have to repaint that when I’m done. Everything else worked out. As you can see the seat height is now more like my CT70. I still need to measure shocks and solve for the exhaust system but both of those are after the bike gets assembled. I should have this off to be powder coaters later this week.
I have been busy and haven’t updated this in a while but I am still working on this build. I got the frame modified and am happy with the new look. If your familiar with the SL70 you should pick up on the new lines. They are exactly what I was hoping they would be.
