My z50

Hey guys. Im new to this forum and it seams like a nice place. In April I bought this realy beat up z50aK2 for 50$ that at the time, you couldnt even tell what it was. I rode it for about a month or so until it quit on me an died. Sortly after that happend we ripped the motor out of it and set it on our work bench where it sat for a couple of weeks. One day I got bored so I ripped the motor apart with my dad and there was literly like 5 minor things that were wrong with it that just requierd minor adjusting and a new tapet that we got for free :) . After we adjusted some small things we put the motoer back together and trew it back into the bike. To our surprise it started first kick :eek: , after some carb adjusting we got it running like a champ! So after that I rode it for a bit than decided to try and sell it so I could get some money for a big bike. I had one guy come by and look at it but he decided 300 was too high an asking price so the deal fell through. After that I did some thinking with me dad and we decided to restor it. I got the stock tank with the bike but it had like 5 holes in it so we patched them up with some 15 minute steal and once that dried we bondoed it and painted it but just as a temp. The seat was prety much done too, the pan was totaly totald, cracked in like 10 places and in total need of a re-do. When we got the pan stripped and ready to weld I noticed that some one previosly lengthemd the seat by about 5-6 inches so it takes away from that original look but it make it look custom. So after we got the pan welded we added about 4 more inches of foam and coverd it in vinal and it turned out prety good. After that we got a lot of other small things for it and the bike is lookin good so far but its not done yet. So that brings me to were we are now. I have a couple questions for you guys, My first question has to do with the oil. With a sub low amount of oil :D the bike seems to run perfect with no problems at all but when you pour in the amaount of oil that seems the perfect amount on the dipstick the bike smokes realy bad, oil drips out of the exhaust pipe and the cam chain repetitivly falls off. Whats the deal? I cant tell whats wrong and I could use your help. My second question it about my pipe, what is it? its definatly not the stock pipe but it seams to fit right and all :confused: could it posibly be an old after market pipe? Im confused. I have some photos of the bike in differant stages and I will update as the project moves on.

Ok last post for today. This is the bike In the condition it was when I wanted to sell it after we had the motor ripped apart and put back in it.



I will have photos of the bike in its curent state up in a couple of days.

Check your cam chain tensionor bolt located underneath on the flywheel side of your crankcase. It might need an adjustment.

If oil is dripping out of your exhaust, then it's getting past your rings and into the combustion chamber. Your spark plug is probably black and oily too. You'll need new rings on the piston.

That muffler could be off of anything.

Thanks for the advice. Yes it does foul the odd plug but not too often. The cam chain tencioner is tenciond to the max so I think the chain is just straight up streched so I got a new cam chain and piston rings on order. I took some photos of the bike today, I think it looks a lot nicer than it did befor. What do you guys think?
