Hi everyone!
This site is really cool I did'nt even know these site's even existed for my little trail 70.I have what I believe is a 1971 HKO it has the 4-speed is emerald green and has been in my family as long as I can remember i'm 32 now.
My uncle bought it year's ago for my cousin, when she out grew it, it got passed to her younger brother and when he out grew it,it got passed down to me and now my cousin's kid is riding it.

MFG date 6/70
Frame #CT70HE-116761
Engine #CT70HE-116410
I just ordered a bunch of stuff from CHP out of TX (hope they are reputable)the only thing I am concerned about is the aftermarket stator kit,was a good price but seemed almost too good to be true.Anyone have any experience with these?
One other thing, how much compression are these supposed to have? Before I tore the motor down it had 89 lbs. seems pretty low to me.
Thanks

welcome td,you have a green H?post up some pics if possible.the aftermarket stator kit from chp is for a hitachi flywheel.did you make sure that is what you have?.they posted pictures for you to verify the flywheel.if yours is like mine,a mitsubishi it will not work.150 psi is a good reading.

Yea on the side of the frame it say's CT70H,and it is the "emerald green" I believe. Dont know how to post pic's,but the fiancee has a digital camera and if someone could give me a quick crash course on posting them I will.As far as the stator goes I am almost positive they have one for both "hitachi" and "mitsubishi",mine is the mitsubishi. If 150 psi is a good reading I was definatly due for an overhaul.
Is a "H'' model in the green color pretty rare?

The "H" models in the KO were only made two years 70-71 . They are getting more rare every year . Here's mine .

Welcome to the forum. You got one of the rarer 4 speeds HKO's. A second month build (16,761 made out of roughly 65,000 HKO's made). Out of the three HKO colors (Orange, Green and Blue/Green) I'd venture to guess the Blue/green is the rarest and it's a toss up between Green and Orange on which they made the most of.

CHP, Dr ATV, Bike Bandit, and NEVC is where I do all my CT70 parts shopping.

I own a Emerald Green myself. Here's a picture.

vrodsss & hornetgod, those are some nice looking machine's! They look like mine probably did when it was new.
Mine is in pretty good shape though,I have a new seat cover and foam coming from chp that will be a huge improvement.
Next will be headlight and taillight, just don't have the money at the moment.

Welcome aboard,
You will probably need a new top end if you only have 89lbs of compression. Buy a Clymers manual and start reading the engine section.
There are a few guys on the site that rebuild engines, or you could buy the parts and do it yourself.
Welcome to the insanity, if this is the only MiniTrail you have......it's just going to be the first of many!
These little bikes are like Lays potatoe chips..."you can't just have one" right Mike (vrodsss)

Thank's for the welcome.I ordered new ring's and a head stud from a local honda dealer, the head stud (if that's what it is called) has been broke for about ten year's now and i'm pretty sure that was the cause of the low compression, just forgot to mention that earlier.
Also ordered service manual, complete resto.kit, carburator stuff and some other thing's.This is the second time i've had the motor apart, did it once back in high school for small engine class.
I do love wrenching on the toy's, tonight I was at a friend's house that does a lot of engine work and he hone'd the cylender and I used his part's washer to clean the head and some other stuff. Hopefully the part's will be here in a couple day's and I should have her running by the end of the weekend WOO HOO!!

P.C. I just wanted to say thank's for seeting me straight about the aftermarket stator. Some of the part's I ordered from CHP were on back order so I had to ask about it if it would work for the 4-speed and the tech guy said no,but he has heard of people "massiasing" them to fit.
But anyway he talked me into getting the tune up kit point's,condenser and plug,he also told me how to check my ignition winding wich seem's to be ok.
I will definatly go back to CHP they have great service ,thank's again

Just got her running the other night. It took a little longer to get the part's than I thought.
She purrrrs like a kitten, wound up with 135lbs of compression(definate improvement but not 150lbs) and just point's and condenser semmed to fix the no spark
problem. Sure am glad I went with the seat cover and foam from CHP,really look's good!
I will try to post some pic's.
