1981 Z50R acquired a few days ago with upgrade to QIYE 125cc engine with new shocks, paint, seat and tires. 4 speed with manual clutch and 14/37 gearing. Exhaust was said to be from CT-70. This beast is scary to ride and control in 1st gear. You cant feather the throttle gently enough to keep this thing from bucking you off like in a rodeo. The solution is an extended swingarm and I have many hours researching which to get. 4th gear at full throttle is near suicide as far as I can tell. There must be a new parameter for measuring performance of motorized vehicles and that would be top speed divided by empty pound vehicle weight. All I know is that 60mph on a 115 pound machine is... well "exciting". IF I could set the rules I would challenge a Hayabusa to a quarter mile. The first 100 yards would be where rider carries his machine from the starting line to the 100 yard marker than sets the machine down and finishes the quarter mile. They used to do this at Lemans car races where the drivers sprinted 50 yds and jumped in the car and cranked up and flew.
