Wiring help needed with Zongshen 125cc in Trail 70

Hi,

I bought a Zongshen 125cc engine for my 74 Trail 70. When I compared the wiring harnesses, I noticed that they are not remotely the same. I understand that the old system is 6v and the new engine is 12v. It also came with a CDI ignition and a Rectifier (I think that's what it is). I receive no other instructions with the engine. Does anyone have a diagram to help me????

Thanks

Please register on the board so I can get your e-mail address or
Send me your e-mail address and I`ll send you a pic of my wiring diagrams for the CDI box.
.
Where did you source your engine and if on E-Bay who did you get it from?
You will also have to do some wiring modifications and bulb replacements to make this engine and lights work on your CT. Dratv.com has a lot of information for this swap and how to keep your bike 6 volt if you like.

E-mail has been sent Trailpunisher! I would like to make use the 12v system. All the light will be updated with aftermarket ones. I'm just confused by the differences in the original and new wiring harnesses!

heres the wiring diagram i recieved with my engine. hope it helps. I just got my 124cc running, after a week of electrical issues. Let me know if i can help further.

could you send me the diagram for wiring a zongshen engine?
thanks
PM me your e-mail address and I can send you a clear copy of my pic. It is for an electric start bike but you can ignore the stuff for the solenoid if your bike is kick only.
.
Here is a description of the wiring
Remember-Flame-out switch is the kill switch. Green wire in China means ground instead of black :D
.
The colors of the wires coming out of your engine may be a bit different, I have seen 2 versions but its easy to figure out,
Black/red from engine can also be yellow/red in some cases is power to cdi box-
usually goes to red/yellow in the harness-leads to CDI box
Blue/white from engine can also be red/white in some cases and is the cdi trigger/pulse-
usually goes to red/wht in harness -leads to cdi box
Solid Yellow from the engine is for lights/rectifier and goes to the Voltage regulator/rectifier
It can be sometimes be spliced between the engine and the regulator with a wire in the harness leading to an on-off switch for the lights.
Solid White from the engine is for the regulator and goes to the Voltage regulator
Solid Green or sometimes Solid Black from engine is ground and goes to green in the wiring harness-always.
Light green with a red stripe or green/wht stripe from the engine is the neutral indicator wire.

.
Black/yellow wire from cdi box harness goes to the coil +
which can be black/yellow stripe or black/white stripe
Green from the coil goes to ground or green ground wire
Blk/white stripe from cdi box goes to kill switch
.
Solid Red coming out of the regulator is your 12 volt (+) Power wire for running stuff and charging the battery and usually goes into a splice somewhere in the harness.
Solid Green coming out of the regulator/rectifier is ground

help !

Trail punisher could I have a copy of your wiring chart too? I purchased a engine from Lanning LLC on E-bay.... the directions are confusing to say the least. Any help you could offer me would be appreciated. Thanks :D

Hi,

I recently purchased a 110cm Zongshen engine, but I haven't received any wiring diagram with it.

Can anybody help me about it?

there are two connectors from the engine, the colors are:

1/big connector:

blue / white strip
pink
yellow
black / red strop
green

2/small connector
green/red stripe
pink
black / red stripe
green/black stripe
red/white stripe

I believe the smaller connector is for the gear indicators, green is for ground, yellow is for lighting.

But the others....?

Best regards
