This is the one I mentioned. Was caked with baked on dirt. I've gone the first round of cleaning so you can see the part. It is a good core imo. Needs a complete rebuild with seats cut. There is a bit of rust on one of the cam lobes that I tried to picture. Some rust on the valve seats too I think.Thanks

Is 3rd gear countershaft 26 tooth gears part # 23461-118-305 looks the same but has four locking lugs where mine has two. I thinking it would work but woundering if 2nd gear is made different where the lugs make there connection with 3rd? Let me know you have a two lug gear or have any knowledge on this,....thanks

I would THINK so too. Maybe look to see if there is any difference in the shape or look of the gear teeth that mesh into the 3rd gear on the main shaft...those teeth have to WORK together too.Yes I have heard that as well on the early sl70’s but never paid much attention being most of the motors I’ve built didn’t need any gear changes... I did look closely at a xl70 complete trans gear set on eBay and it had the 4 lug 3rd an 4 lug 2nd together so I’m thinking they would work together..as long as they fit together an lock I don’t see why it wouldn’t work?
