Ct90 out of a long storage

I pulled my ct90 out of storage with the idea of getting it running and selling it. Now im not so sure i want to sell it.

I purchased it along with a z50 k1 for somewhere between 5-600$ in 2015 i think. I didnt really want it but I really wanted the hard tail so what the hell.

According the the vin its a 1969 k1. Vin is 288xxx. After doing some research there is an early k1 and a late k1. I think most of the changes involve the carb. Ill post a thread on the problems im having.

Looks to need fork seals, carb fix, and a new front tire. Then all the usual decrustifying.

I like those 90s more and more as the years pass. And a gazillion riders can't be wrong. I've had a ton of people talk about "the one they had" as kids. They were very popular back in their day. One thing that I had never considered...a couple guys I know bought them to ride because they are big guys...and it's easy for them to get on and off with the step thru frame...vs. throwing a leg over a CT70 etc.

How many did they make? 450k?

The ct110 would be ideal with its 12v and cdi.

Yep the step through is like a larger version of the Chaly.

Never forget that eight speed transmission. In low range 1st gear and with a new knobby back tire, it'll climb hills that you would struggle to walk up.

I have no idea about how many were made. I assume it must be a LOT, because of how many people ask, or talk to me about trail 90s...and...all of the parts out there.
The 8speed trans is a big draw IMO.
I've never ridden one myself...but they strike me as a bike where both wheels would stay on the ground. Heavy, clunky, tractor kinda ride, with few wheelies, jumps, or tricks. I might be wrong about that tho if I DID ever ride one.

A big downside for me is the apparent UNavailability of performance parts...engine parts. I like my big motors...stroker cranks, etc. I don't see much at all about adding displacement to a CT90. And when I've asked, I was told the same.
But 90cc should be enough for a tractor kinda hill climber indestructo bike..? Not quite enough tho if you want to get them out on the open road.

Like a big moped, right Kirb? I use the speedo on one of my bikes as it reads to 80mph. The sweep indicates close to 60 mph in 4th gear. That would be enough to ride on the street... If it's true.

Ahh...tougher and cooler than a moped for sure.
Like a utility vehicle...workin machine. Drags stumps, climbs mountains, and still buzzes around the neighborhood with style.
If your girlfriend is willing to ride on the back rack... she's a keeper :)
When I think of a trail 90...it just makes me think of a trail 90.
A moped makes me think of a big crappy bicycle, with a engine. And my memory makes me remember that they aren't that much fun. I'd rather be fast on a bicycle, than slow on a moped.

I have 3 of them and you are exactly right Kirrbby they are more of a tractor kinda bike. Dratv does offer a stroker kit for them, you send them your cylinder and crank and they rework it so you can still use all of your original intake/air filter parts. It looks really cool. Out of all my bikes CT70, Z50A, 2020 Monkey, CT90, 2010 Honda NHX moped, the CT90’s are the only bikes I can get my wife to ride and the moped is fully automatic!!
