K2 front triple tree on K1 for use with dratv 50% stiffer front forks

Hello everyone,
I was thinking of setting up ol'Red so I can cart around my 110 lbs girl around with me on the trail.
So while shopping on dratv I saw they sell a front fork upgrade with 50% more damping then the stock forks. Figured with the 30% or the 50% rear springs mite work well for two.

The only issue is that they fit K2 thru K5 only.

I was thinking if I could find a K2 front for and triple tree I could add it to ol'Reds front end? (If anyone has that for sale please message me.)

If anyone has tried this successfully I would like to hear from you on how it went and any issues you may of had.

Thanks for everyone's time and advice.

NW - not familiar with the DrATV upgrade. Are you getting 50% stiffer springs or 50% more damping? Spring rate and damping are two different things. Just trying to follow along

We're talking about your CT90K1?

I think you should start by trying ONLY the rear shocks. See how it feels.
Maybe add a touch of oil to the original fronts..."oil tune" what you have. Get it as good as can be had...see how it feels with both of you on the bike...and with only you on the bike.

I'd be leery about 50% stiffer...that's a LOT.

I'm 220lbs and I've used that 50% stiffer front end and it feels great. I've also used the 30% stiffer rear, makes the whole bike feel like new. I've also used the "VERY HEAVY DUTY REAR SHOCK SET"- I'd steer clear of that one. They are immovable, and huge. Basically turns your bike into a hardtail and your only suspension is your tires.

I wonder if it says K2+ to play it safe because some of the K1s might have had the earlier style leading link suspension (they switched some things up halfway thru the year I think(? What does lil red have now on the front?

i was given the explanation that top bolts are different length. i got it was a complete replacement too. i would just like to know if anyone had done it and if anyone had a front end for a k2 for sale. just a little project for ol'red.

Dratv site just says 50% stiffer. No mention of damping. Its a complete leg replacement, not a spring swap.

Hi Kirrbby,
yes sir we are talking about K1. i was thinking since i weight 200lbs she weights 110lbs and camping gear weights between 70 and 100lbs. so we will be exceeding the weight max by at least 170 to 200 lbs. good advice though.

Are you looking at these forks?

http://dratv.com/sudufrfoset.html

If you scroll down the page a bit, it has a bolt pictured there for sale and says "GET THIS BOLT IF YOU NEED THE FORKS FOR A K1 MODEL". So you can probably use them without getting a whole new front end. You could always email them to double check, they're pretty good at responding.

Hi Joel,
I Really appreciate your leg work. I will definitely contact them. Thank you you your post! I think it also has to with the diameter of the shocks and triple tree.
Thanks again Joel
