Hello to all. I'm a new member and i'm seeking the advice of all the pros on this site. I owned a red Honda 70 when i was young and i'm looking to purchase a restored bike. I am now reading of many more options than i was originally aware of. Can anyone opine on the best Honda 70 model that has been built. For nostalgic reasons, i would like to find a red model. I welcome all opinions. Thank you

welcome aboard.

All of them. Personally all the models were great. There HONDA!!!

Do you remember what model you had in your younger years?

This is my opinion.

1972 HK1 ruby red preferably titled for street use.
4 speed manual clutch.
Hydraulic front forks.

There was red available in '69-71 KO automatic 3 speeds, '72 K1 manual clutch 4 speed, '76 was Tahitian red auto 3 speed, '80-82 Tahitian Red auto 3 speed. Going by sales numbers and popularity yours was probably a '70/71 KO 3 speed. Do you have any old pictures of the bike to determine the year from or do you remember if the speedo was built into the headlight?

Welcome.
Yes, a pic or detailed description would be most helpful.

1972 CT70 HK1 is the sweetest, IMO. Although the 3speeds do have they're advantages. They are easier to manage getting through rough tight spaces and teaching someone to ride.

Welcome aboard Nostalgic. I'm sure you'll get many opinions about the "best" CT70 model. I have a later model - a '93 - and many would say that the later models ('91-'94) were mechanically superior, and they had a 12V battery instead of the 6V like earlier ones. However, IMO, the early KO's and K1's ('69 - '72) are the true "classics" and I am also in the market for one of those. Fyi, in '79 the chrome fenders gave way to painted ones and they lost the fold-down handlebars. The last models, like mine, have white painted rims as well ... I love to ride it, but IMO it lacks the panache of the originals.

Guess not knowing your age you could have been young in '91-94 when the ct70 made a 4 year comeback, all in red. Italian red maybe? They too were 3 speedo autos but had a 12 volt electrical system, white rims.

I concur. Another great thing about CT's is how available the parts are. I have a small European bike & have a hard time even finding a headlight. As for my '81 CT, parts are only a computer click or phone call away. Welcome to the addiction!!!:19:

1394233890667.jpg My best is my favorite to ride. An early K3. GB-4 cases, XR70 3 Spd auto w/ TB 88 kit and XR80 carb. Wound the stator for 12v lighting conversion. It fires with the CDI ignition before I get to the bottom of the 1st kick.
Candy colored and lots of chrome with a dash of performance thats easy to ride. Easy enough that my daughter has snuck it out a few times.
In the picture it still it's still sporting the original engine.

I would like to thank everyone for responding to my inquiry. I was not expecting so much attention and it is greatly appreciated. Now the fun of looking for one begins. I will definitely be staying with this forum and with updates. Unfortunately, i don't have any pictures of the one that i had. The most humorous aspect of when i owned it was that every time i was driving it around, i bumped into a friend that had a car and we would switch only to find out later how my friend would pull wheelies around town. I won't say what fun i had with his car. Thank you everyone.
