Wanted Fork Springs

I picked it up from Autozone but Advanced also has it. Duplicolor Metalcast Anodized Red MC200. There are only a few metalcast colors so red will be easy to see on the cap. Purple, blue, red and orange. You will have to use a silver metallic base first, it is somewhat transparent. Here is how they turned out.

Hi, OLD CT.
I got the MC200 Red paint a Autozone . They had two cans, and both of them had been shot before, which I pointed out to the counter guy. I have a question on the base coat. I did not see any Metallic Silver wile i was there. Later on, i was at Walmart and bought this Rust-Oleum Metallic Finish 7715 Aluminum Paint. Do think this will work, or should i try to find the Silver?

Thanks Roy

In practical, real-world, terms...a clear topcoat is required. Try a couple of test pieces, one with, the other without, clear and you'll see at least one, or two, reason(s) why. Over the longterm, durability & chemical resistance will become issues; clearcoating makes a huge difference, especially with airdry/rattlecan paint. As for which clear to use, it's best to use base, candy (mid) and clear (top) coat from the same manufacturer & same paint system. Duplicolor makes a number of clear formulations. You want gloss...and NOT the wheel formula; it's too brittle and will develop a yellowish tint if applied in sufficient thickness for frameset tins.
