Charging question.

When I put lites on especially the high beam is it normal for it to get somewhat brighter when at a higher rev. Then dim down at idle keep in mind the little bike is a clone ct70 2003 I purchased it cheap with less than 30 original miles on it. Thx I’m addictive and trying to make it look like a real ct70.

Yes that is normal. The headlight is AC directly fed from the stator not the battery. The faster the motor revs the more the stator puts out the brighter the headlight. It may also be the tail light. I moved my clone taillight off that circuit and put it on a switched battery circuit. I didnt like my dim taillight at ldle at night.

Of course, it is. The headlight is fed AC directly from the stator and only when the engine is running. Voltage fluctuates wildly, dropping-off at idle...and using bulb draw to prevent huge spikes at high revs. With no load on the alternator, raw AC voltage can easily top 30V.

Thx you guys know everything about these little bikes and always happy to answer my novice questions thank you I’m learning reading all the tech stuff from day 1 I’m up to 139th spot
