Rebuild throttle issues

Hey all,

I just put a BBK on my 77 CT70. it starts up fine, but there is no control on the throttle cable and it is stuck wide open. When I take the carb off, I can see the slide doesn't go all the way to the bottom. Would this cause an full throttle idle? I also have a TB throttle and new cable I am putting on. I believe I have that routed correctly. Just when slide is set in carb the spring is so compressed it doesn't let the slide move and just the cable moves

Thanks, B

The most common cause is installing the slide 180-degrees from where it needs to be. The side with the long, narrow, slot should be opposite the idle screw in the carb body. We've all done this at one time, or another...a CT70 owner rite of passage.

Defiently in the right way, when I try to turn the other way it won't even go. The idle screen sits in the little cut out on the slide but doesn't touch all the way to the bottom still l

You have to figure out what's preventing it from closing. With the throttle cable & idle screw removed, it should bottom-out inside the venturi.

The throttle cable is too short, use the TB cable and throttle with the TB carb.
Thats what I thought my original issue was, I just put on the Tb cable and throttle. I screwed something up installing the throttle and on my maiden journey the cable slipped out and I had to push it a half mile back..... Lesson learned to check parts three time.
Putting back together, I think my idling issue is fixed. It is just so much f*ckn louder with this new kit!
