1971 Honda sl70 to Lifan 150 motor swap

Anyone know the wire connection for this swap. They sent me a coil, wire harness and I bought a rectifier for lights. I got the motor running, but no lights and no kill shut off. Hopefully just not hooking up right wires. Don't know where some wires go, like pink from rectifier, green/red from engine harness, and how to hook up kill plug to my kill switch. Here are some pics, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi kirrbby, yes I did, and i even sent him an email. He said he does not work on 150cc motors, only the 125. The wiring should be the same, but colors are different, the coil is different, and plugs are different. Just not sure where they go. For instance, I have a pink wire from my rectifier, where Minimike shows a white wire from the rectifier that goes to a white wire from engine. I have no white wire. His coil is 2 wire, mine is no wire, just a clip. My kill plug is a 2 wire plug and my kill switch i believe is only 1 wire. I have a green/red wire from my engine don't know what is. So those are the issues. The bike will run, but I want lights and a kill switch.

I have never had any luck with a stator that has a pink wire. If this were my engine, I’d buy the $17 stator on Amazon, that has a white and yellow wire. I’d also use a Trail Buddy TB515 harness and a half wave 4 wire regulator.

Hi Old CT, good to hear from you, you helped me with my ct70 a while back. Lighting coil.... what am I looking for? I have all the stock wires on the bike, I just unplugged the motor plug. The new Lifan motor with the cdi should take care of all the connections, even for lights right? The rectifier with that pink wire I think goes to the stator, but there is no wire to connect to. I will take a pic of my coil and post it for you. Also Old CT, the harness came with a yellow/black wire that they say connect to the coil, if I do not connect that wire, and run a black/white wire from the coil to the original connection from the ignition plug, will that give me my stop switch, and can I leave the yellow/black wire un-connected?

ok Old CT or anyone else, here is a pic of my stator, my phone is not working so I went on line, but is the exact one including the wires and wire color that I have in my bike.

It looks like a half wave setup with the lighting coil in place. Go to dratv and look for a wiring diagram. pink and yellow go to the rectifier.

I've got bike running, kill switch is fixed....just a wire on stock harness had to be connected to black/white on new harness, but I have no lights in first position with battery motor not on. I only have tail light in 2cnd position with motor running, no headlight. I'm running a full wave rectifier - does that matter, and I do not have the pink wire from rectifier connected to anything, does that matter. What does the pink wire do?

Go to dratv and click on lifan engine parts. He says that stator the 150 comes with isn't very good in the lighting department and has an upgrade and information. Here is another image on his sitecommon-cdi-stator-color-wires-and-what-they-do-21.jpg

Hi OldCT, I think that would be a good idea. I have the motor all hooked up, but no head light and it pops and coughs when I ride it. I will get the new stator, cdi, harness and half wave rectifier with white wire. Live and learn, time and more money but will get it done. Mike was right about those rectifiers with pink wire....junk. Anyway I will post results when upgrade is in. Thank you for all your input and letting me know where to get the parts. You are a lot of help, thanks Hos

OldCT, this is the upgrade stator and harness they have for the Lifan 150. I just bought this, but i'm looking at it, how does this style 2 coil match up to the multiple coils. Does this stator look like it has enough to power headlight and taillight.

The two coil setup should work fine. The dr says it works better so you should be good to go. I would still order/run a red 12v led taillight bulb to save some juice for the headlight. It wouldn't hurt to run a led digital voltmeter ''Amazon has em'' on the bike. I have never had a Lifan150cc. Keep us posted. Fingers crossed.

Hey OldCT, I ordered the upgrade stator for my Lifan 150 it will be here Friday, but I wanted to ask you, I have been riding around on my sl70 with the stock stator and the 12v full rectifier with the pink wire not connected to anything it starts up fine and idles.....but when I give it full throttle the motor coughs and cuts out, do you think that has anything to do with the rectifier or that pink wire......just curious. I got a new half wave rectifier, it has real thin wires though. I just hope the new stator and rectifier will get rid of this issue, what ever it is.

Could be jetted too rich on the main jet. Check the plug ''immediately'' after getting it to falter. As in, clutch in, shut it down, pull over and pull the plug and inspect.

OldCT, I am so disappointed in DRATV. I received the upgraded coil and it is not even close to matching up. First the stator holes were way off, so I drilled them out and made them fit. Then the stator itself was way different design. I should of looked closet, but since dratv said it was a perfect upgrade for the lifan 150 I got it. So the stator wires are on the inside of the upgrade with a soldered bracket holding them down, the flywheel rubs on that. Then the stator has a molded in support for the block at the bottom of the stator, the flywheel rubs on that. I tried to grind a little and make it fit, but no way. So I have been emailing DRATV since 10:00 am because they do not supply a phone number, which I think is a signal right there to not order from them, anyway they have not responded in anyway to try and make this right. The stator flywheel upgrade is not for the lifan 150, it does not fit. So far DRATV is a poor company that does not try to fix their mistakes and help their customers. I am just going to put my original stator back on. The bike runs, but pops and has no headlight. I don't know if it is the pink wire not connected to anything, or the full wave rectifier instead of half wave. The upgraded harness they sent me has a plug to tap into the original wires from the stator to the ignition, but I can't use that harness because it comes from the upgraded stator. I don't think they are going to refund my money, or take back the wrong parts, especially since I tried to make them work.

Old Ct, scratch everything I said in my last post. My fault, I wish they would of supplied instructions or at least added a picture. I did not know I
had to also remove the sub plate to make this upgrade fit. I also wish they would add a phone number to their website, it would of made things
so much easier and this whole thing could of been resolved in 5 minutes. But now I have to get another stator because I have a small oil leak coming out of the bottom screw hole where I drilled it out, by mistake trying to make it fit the original stator screw hole. Anyway live and learn, take a deep breath, hopefully they will send me another stator a.s.a.p. So another week, but I will post a pic when this is done.
