Bad Case Half - Spun Bearing?

Hi All - rebuilding a 1972 CT70HK1 - Candy Yellow. Got the engine out and stripped down when I found the following on the right-half engine case. Note: I've highlighted the area with a Red Sharpie. First 2 photos are from the inside, last photo is from the outside of the bearing pocket. It...

    Exhaust Leak at Head

My CT70 K1 has an exhaust leak at the point where the exhaust connects to the head. The photo shows how tight the nuts are on the studs. I really don't want to over-torque them and crack the studs. The exhaust is a new CHP motorsports, and I used a new donut on the stock head. I didn't see...

    HK1 kick shaft... any upgrades?

I was wondering it there is an upgrade to the kick start shaft/gear that anyone has tried? Just picked up a 2nd bike (1972 Candy Yellow HK1). Funny how they start multiplying when alone in garage... This has a different kick gear being a 4-speed manual (24 teeth versus the 22 teeth on the...

    Kick Start Shaft C-clip surprise

After splitting the cases on the K1, replacing the 3 speed with a 4 speed, and cleaning things up I happened upon this surprise. The Kick Start Shaft C-clip, between the pinion gear and the LH case (#9 on the diagram, right side of #1), was missing an ear! My ChannellLock snap ring pliers were...

    K1 Kickerstart shaft/gear upgrade

I'd like to upgrade the OEM shaft/gear to the more sturdy type. I believe several have mentioned the Honda CRF50F shaft/gear as the best route to take if you're adding more compression, etc. I don't have immediate plans for that, but since the cases are split, now is the time for the...

    Case Splitter Recommendation

I'm retiring my decades-old case splitter, that's got some issues. My fear is to screw-up the cases using inferior tools. Any mfg/model recommendations on what works well on the CT70 cases (Tusk, Motion Pro, etc.), including some tips and tricks? I've already purchased those JIS Impact...

    High Low beam switch rebuild?

Is it possible to rebuild these? I'd love to keep the original switch, but the parts diagram shows it as one piece, and no longer available... thanks...

    CT70 K1 front fork issue

I'm having trouble removing my front fork lower spring guide from it's lower case cover (Diagram#14). Seems like it is welded in place. Obviously need to remove it to expose the circlip, and disassemble the rest. Any tips on getting it out? I'd also like to replace the lower spring case...

Touch Up Paint - Candy Yellow

I have some spots of rust on my frame, and would like to touch them up (1972 K1 Candy Yellow). The photo shows the worst spot, around the ignition key. Not too concerned about the small "pinholes" (but I'm open to suggestions on those also). I'm not going to restore the cosmetics too much...

    Replacement Wheel Bearings

My barnfind 1972 CT70 K1 (CY) needs new wheel bearings & seals. The OEM ones are still available. Should I use the OEM, or try aftermarket? Is there are better "sealed" option as well. Thank you in advance...
