Touch Up Paint - Candy Yellow

I have some spots of rust on my frame, and would like to touch them up (1972 K1 Candy Yellow). The photo shows the worst spot, around the ignition key. Not too concerned about the small "pinholes" (but I'm open to suggestions on those also).

I'm not going to restore the cosmetics too much, but the rust spots have to go... Any Suggestions?

Search google for VMR paint, he sells aerosol cans of paint for old Hondas and maybe other brands too. All his paints are mixed to order, but he said it doesn't take long for him to mix up an order.

Great, thank you JHminitrails & kirrbby. I think I'll try out the Dupli-Color Metalcast Yellow since it's available locally and inexpensive. BTW, Hambone did an excellent job on that SL70 in Candy Yellow....

That repair with the duplicolor is going to be harder than you think.. You have to sand down all the rust and hopefully have a smooth surface to start with. Start with some self etching primer, lightly sand then spray a silver base coat first. Next spray a couple coats of the yellow or as many to get the desired shade. Spraying that translucent yellow alone won't cut it. You would be better off, leaving it be.
Repairing old or new candy paint is difficult.

Thanks for the advice OLD CT. I was suspecting that would be the case, and you've just confirmed it.

Not only would the Candy Yellow be hard to apply to that area, the match with the original paint would look terrible. Leave it be it is!

Old CT is right, you will need the basecoat that is recommended, I would decant the paint and spray it through an airbrush, easier to blend and control than the aerosol can.

Hold the Phone! Perhaps I was not clear when I posted. I have both the DupliColor basecoat, and the Duplicolor Yellow that you used on your SL70 paint hambone. I was not going to just rattlecan the Yellow over the rust spot.... sorry for the confusion. (NOTE: in the photo, I'm priming a K0 headlight bucket, then will rattlecan/airbrush the DupliColor basecoat, then DupliColor Yellow, and try to match the OEM Candy Yellow tint on the frame)

I have checked out several decanting methods, and I am willing to give it a try. I do not own an airbrush, but I'm overdue to purchase one as I have several other projects that could benefit from it. I'm not certain what airbrush features to look for, and who makes what...

- what type of airbrush do you own, and would you make some recommendations to me? (double-acting, gravity feed, multiple nozzles; and mfgs: Paasche, Iwata, etc). This could be an "opportunity" to try out the airbrush, repair the rust patches, feather in the color, and try to color match the tint!

I'm not much of a painter, just dabble around on my junk, my hvpl gun and airbrush came from Harbor Freight, both under $20, I would just start with a cheap one and do some spray testing, haven't used the airbrush in a couple years. I used my airbrush to touch up fishing lures. I was told if you decant the paint, let it set overnight and let it off gas.
