That is cool! It sounds like it might all pan out just like you had hoped it would.

    Clutch wouldnt return randomly.

Id start with the lever...then cable...then keep working my way into the engine looking for THE problem. Don't ride that thing till you find it. Something may be loose, hanging up, or out of place. Hopefully a easy fix right now...but could be worse if you keep running it.

    CT70 First engine rebuild questions

You intake valve seat is badly pitted. You need to have the head rebuilt by a pro...new valves...probably rockers and pins too. If the casting is otherwise good...go for a full rebuild. It's money well spent.

    Just purchased 1970 CT70

They aren't actually glued with glue...they are just stuck...by time. When they were first tightened on there...the bases were brand new soft sticky rubber. Add 50 years...they're just stuck.

How hard is it to find an original HO engine?

BTW...used H engines on eBay...might sell for 350-650...I think. Just to give you a general idea. Expect them to be whipped out tho...rebuildable core. But they do NOT come up very often these days. eBay is kinda sad recently. A lot of folks are wheelin and dealin on Facebook, in...

    Just purchased 1970 CT70

Break the bond between the reflector, and the rubber base. The base has to be still while the reflector spins...out. THAT is typically the problem, IMO. I usually use a razor knife blade carefully... Get the blade in BETWEEN...go all around...then hold the base, and loosen the reflector. A...

How hard is it to find an original HO engine?

I have a short stack of H engines, and engine cases. If you want a "numbers matching" it's doable, but MIGHT take some time to find. Just a H engine...easy enough. If you could post the first 4-5 of the vin...someone here might have a match.
