if anyone has swapped a 12v motor into a ko i would just like a list of everything i would need to get it to run with the electrical working as well. id like to order it all at once with the motor. thinking about just doing a basic 125cc. possibly 140-160. just put a brand new 6v wire harness in the bike so would like to keep that if possible.
a list of everything i would need to convert from the stock 72cc would be greatly appreciated. thanks all.

Haven't done one, but off the top of my head:
you can keep the harness
battery
regulator
coil/cdi (this would probably require modifying the harness or using an adapter)
bulbs/leds

and i think you can keep the controls. There's a lot more work thank you think unless you're a quick electrical guy. if you don't have a multimeter or test light at least and some knowhow with the solder, tread lightly.

if you're a real boss you can make the connector for the motor look stock and plug into the stock harness. again, boss territory, involving new spades and tedious work, like putting connector friendly spades in correct orientation back into the connectors, but it can be done.

anyways, i hope that helps. people will chime in with lots i forgot below i'm sure.

luckily i grew up with my dad being a electrician, always teaching me to wire up things as a kid. i like wiring, soldering all that stuff don't bother me. my bike will be getting led headlight and tail light. don't think I'm gonna do any turn signals. i guess I'm mostly interested in getting the motor to run with the system. thank you for the info! little goes a long way with these things.

Check out the wiring threads at monkeybikeoz.com.au

Buy a motor which has a lighting stator as it will make things easier. Most lifan motors have them and come with the needed cdi etc. Look for a one which has white and yellow lighting circuit not yellow yellow.

Dr at has little sub harnesses for plug and play but I haven't used them.

Hope this helps

I've lost track of how many times I've done the Lifan 125cc into a CT70 swap, maybe 15 now.

The best $60 you can spend is for the wiring harness that is sold on ebay by seller, webllc. It comes complete with cdi, regulator, brake light switch, key switch and coil. Everything back of the headlight is complete plug&play and very easy. The headlight wiring is not bad, depending on what kind of hand controls you are running and what options you want, signals, horn, etc. The biggest thing to remember is that there are two hot wires when the key is on in the headlight bucket, the black wire and the yellow wire. Anything that needs power just feeds off of these.

I have a 3 video series on Youtube that goes thru this wiring harness install. Look up "Lifan 125 wiring" or my channel: Warner Steel

awesome! thank you very much, this should help me out a lot. is the 125cc enough? i had a ssr 125 pit bike, it was fun but just didn't seem like the power was there. is it worth spending the extra money for a 140-150cc? i wanna be able to hit right around 60 mph and still have low end power.

bigger is better. if it's a chinese 125, it might not be 'enough'. you can have the best of both worlds, but hitting 60 will probably be just about what the 125 is capable of. with a 140 or 150 it's easily attainable.

I just pulled a 125 out of my rider and put in a 108 Honda build. The best I got out of the 125 was 50ish. The 108 stroker can hit 60ish. Go bigger than 125 or you will be disappointed.

I generally use the black Lifan 125cc semi-auto. I run 16/36 on a CT70 with 4.00-10 tires. I weigh 225 pounds. Since the speedo stops at 50mph, not sure how fast I'm going, but somewhere 55 to 60. For the riding I do, I can't think of any time I'd want to hit more than that. It also will wheelie at the crack of the throttle in first gear.

Iv'e done 4 Bikes using a Lifan CDI engine, doesn't matter what CC it is,and have used this sub-Harness.

Just can't get any easier or cleaner and utilizes the Quality Repop Honda harness's,Original harness and OEM Key switch if desired.
Since you already have a 6V harness, might be the way to go.Will work on any year CT70.

The lights and what not are not really an issue once you convert the battery, bulbs, rectifier etc over to 12V and study a good diagram, also available from this site.
