My fiancé bought a 74K3 from Ray. We took them on our vacation this week outside of Eureka Springs, AR. Out in the sticks and rented a VERY nice cabin.

With the K3's added performance goodies, it seemed to have no problem keeping up with the HK1 on the mountainous hills and such. Such a good time. Susan is totally happy with her bike. I think she put around 20miles total so far on it. I would like to add that she's nowhere ready to go ripping on that K3, so steady cruising and getting used to the bike is key right now. Later on, I went ripping down these roads with the HK1.lol

Most of those roads were very steep with steep drop off's mixed with washboards and sharp curves, but had some nice straightaway's.

Oh yeah, and discovered, on the way there, my GPS doesnt really know the safest way. That 04 Sequoyah, loaded and with a Uhaul trailer, is one heavy SUV. One-lane wood bridges, over a river, made me very nervous with miles of extreme drop off's with no rails. All backroad.lol. On the way back, went ahead and just went through Eureka and then followed the GPS. WAY WAY much safer and saved alot of driving time.
The day before we left, we did spend some time in Eureka looking through the shops. Stopped at a food/bar place, ate and had a couple drinks. Cant remember the name of the place, but had great food and the best margarita I've ever had. She had a banana daiquiri. I remember seeing a 30's Ford street rod pass by and I pointed it out and said, "OH I LIKE THAT!!!". The guy waved at me.lol. I bought a couple things and so did she, just mainly funny signs and crap.

Got the heel/toe shifter put on from the old K3 and retorqued the head bolts. Since it is a fresh rebuild, checked them and they were almost dead on. Been through about 10 heat cycles now. Time they were checked.
She loves that heel/toe shifter from kirrbby. Now I need to get that sixpack rack she wants.

Adjusted the clutch a little and then she tried out her shifter. "Works alot easier."

I've been wanting to take the HK0 neck sticker off and install the original, but when I asked her about it, she looked at the sticker on the old beat up K3 and said....." NO WAY! I like the stripe thats on it better."lol.

Too my surprise, she wanted that old,"KEEP ON TRUCKIN" mud flap off the old K3 that my brother had installed years ago. I took it off, she cleaned it up, then I put it on. Its amazing that REALLY OLD flap cleaned up so well. It should definitely help keep the mud off that taillight now.

Finally got quite a bit of saddle time yesterday. It was a little windy, but the weather was great. That after market seat seems to work just fine for her on long rides.
Today, I plan on dumping the oil since she's put a little over 50miles on it now and its a fresh motor.

Got some more saddle time today. Already checked the points, slight adjustment, and go from there.

Now I'm gonna blow your minds.....

The HK1 outran this K3 in a straight away...HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHHHAHAHAHAHHH(evil laugh).

I'll give it this though, that K3 needs to fully break in. She told me she hit 48mph, but I was leaving her. The race was never intended, but it happened for over a mile in a straight away. She is also a novice driver and ........well, I'm a prick with a 14/35 4speed.lol
I also noticed, when returning, that the K3 blew its baffle pipe out of the OEM exhaust that I put on. Apparantly, Im still a dumbass and didnt put the bolt in to hold it in. Oh well, it didnt need it anyways. She can definitely blow me away in the midrange or steep hills too. Simply, more torque.

That K3 gets faster as the miles go on. Up the hills ,shes wooping my ass. As soon as the road levels out, the HK1 levels it out and over takes it. HAHAHAHAHAHH.....evil laugh

Once I get that K3 "tuned" and broke in. it will decimate that HK1

K3 is definitely getting faster. Finally got a no wind, perfect day. Been tuning on it a bit. Driver weight and skill are the major factors now. The HK1 is screaming to keep up and shifting hard, but still doing it.lol

Anyway, rode for some time and had a great 2-3hrs of ridding. All backroads outside of town. She is growing more and more fond and familiar with the bike. Sure makes my job easier trying to teach and being aware of the occasional traffic.

Here we were on another back road.

Got some more saddle time. When we got back home, I checked the mileage and it now has 224.2 miles Susan has put on it.

I think I'm gonna go ahead and put a 35 tooth on the back for more speed. I think it has a 36 on there now. I have a brand new 35 stashed somewhere with a new DID chain. The torque this bike has, it could probably handle a 33.lol

On this last ride, Susan told me she wants the front shocks a little softer, so I'm going to bleed them a little. Maybe 5cc's each???

Anyway, here we were in the middle of nowhere again.

I’ve been waiting to hear how that 35t did. I’m sure it can pull that.
Haven't found the sprocket yet. I think it still packed away since I moved. Oh yeah, it could easily pull a 35. Been trying to get another exhaust pipe blasted for it. Its current one doesnt fit exactly right. Making it hard to get your foot on the kicker. When it was fixed, it wasnt clocked right or something. Going to use the beat up K3 for a jig later to try and fix it.
