When I first met my wife I made her get out of the car to brush her hair. One time she stepped in dog crap (A NYC common occurrence) and I wouldn't let her get back in the car. She had to walk a city block to my dad's house. How the hell did I get away with that?

probably because you had a sick GTO… well couldn't hurt anyways… some cars command respect, and that's one of them. if you were a really nice car, would you let someone trample you with dirty feet? i'm sure your wife understands...

Actually, the very first time I saw my wife, she was riding shotgun in her girlfriend's '66 GTO. She claims they beat me from the stoplight. The disagreement continues to this day, 48 years later. I like to think we both won.

Bought mine in 1981 for $900.00 and restored it in 2000. Pic was taken last year on it's last day in California when we loaded it on the trailer and headed for Arizona.

I'm extremely jealous!

I tried to by a used one in the late '70's but the seller was suspect with paperwork that didn't look legitimate. In the late '90's I had a chance to buy a "66 GTO convertible, but with two boys accruing college costs, I couldn't justify it. The guy wanted less than $5,000. :frusty:

Ah, yes... like you, I'll soon be leaving CA for good, a "political refugee" from the state of my birth, go figure. Nice ride, the hardtops don't always get enough credit, compared to the convertibles, but I like 'em both.

P.S. Nice monkeybike leading the vintage parade, LOL.

There is just NOTHING like the sound and power of a vintage bigblock musclecar. Their looks never go out of style. I love to see them driven.

You mean like this one? A friend of mine had one back in the early 80's that I painted red for him. 454c.i. and M22 tranny. He built this one with his son a couple of years ago.

Awesome video, Bulletproof Red69!!! I love those old cars, they don't make 'em like they used to, and that's the honest truth. Hey, that black rig with the visor about half a dozen rides into the video? THAT had my name written all over it, and I KNOW I could fit my monkeybike into that bad boy, LOL. That Chevelle SuperSport was PRIMO too (I think that's what it was, I'm watching the game while tapping this electronic keyboard), I could see myself receiving a "driving award" at the side of the road in that rig, LOL. Oh, yeah, that lifted disco truck early on? If I duck at just the right moment while riding my little offroad thrasher, I bet I could cruise right under that thing, the same way James Bond slides under those big rigs in the Hollywood movies, LOL.

P.S. That good-looking Trans Am reminds me of the Sammy Hagar tune, LOL... "I-E-A-T---Z28!!!"

I figured mid-to-late 40s with that body styling... we have some classic cars in this burg, with all the rich folk in town, LOL. Counts US out, we're MILITARY, 10-4??? Overworked & underpaid, especially in the Combat Arms, LOL. Going back to that car, I just caught a glimpse of it as I was (also) watching the game, which has now gone to extra innings.
