Cheap and Paint Job

Old Guy Too Many Bikes

Just finished my first repaint of my '82 CT70 since I bought it new 40 years ago. I used a method that I did on 4 bikes and two cars in the past and the total cost for the CT was under $60 including decals. I used a half a quart of oil based Rustoleum from the Home Dept. I thinned it about 20% using a high quality thinner/gloss additive/hardener. Then with a high density roller and a quality brush, gave it 9 thin coats. Then I color sanded with 800, then 1000 grit, then cut with a 3m rubbing compound and then 3m polishing compound using a 3" buffing attachment on a cordless drill. It's more time consuming than spraying, but there's no dust, no overspray, no mess, and no runs. Sorry I didn't take pictures along the way, but here's the result. (I painted the CL90 the same way back in 2012).
