CL70 AIR BOX/FILTER QUESTION

New member here. Have had this K1 CL70 for about 35 years. Finally got an OEM airbox housing and filter. Can someone tell me how the air filter is installed?
At first I though the entire element gets shoved into the housing but then there would be no air intake.

See pic below for questions...

Thanks.

hello,
remove the battery cover and the battery, install the rubber into the frame and be sure to connect the spout to the carb, and the flange of the rubber that hooks the carb should be through the frame, then install the clamp onto the big-opened end of rubber filter assembly so the clamp band is between the two lips, insert the closed end of air filter into the hole and push to the right, the opened end of the rubber will make to the open end of the air filter, tighten clamp, reinstall battery cover,

yeah sucks really bad, tight space wires, get caught etc,

Got it. So basically only the metal end cap of the filter is in the rubber airbox and only enough to get clamped.
Seems like a very un-honda like setup.
That is basically how I have it. Had to use a heat gun to soften things up.
Thanks!

So do y'alls bikes have a bunch of intake noise? My CL sounds like when we used to flip the air cleaner lid on my parents Buick 350 Quadrajet.
Also, I have an extra original seat. No tears and only a limited amount of surface rust. What is that worth? thanks

I don't notice any intake noise. The exhaust sound is distinct from other 70s I have.

What model is the seat k0,k1,etc?

Its a 1970.
Unless I did something wrong, the pleated part of the air filter is open to the inside of monocoque frame. it seems to just amplify the noise.

This thing? Yes, But I thought it went under the seat. Does it go inside?

yes under the seat but it rests on the frame and the band holds it in place. I’ve never thought the intake was noisy either however.
