CT70 Wheel/Rim half stamping marks

So I'm in the process of restoring my 71 CT70 and working on stripping the wheels and hubs. And I came across 2 stamping marks I've never seen on other wheels I've stripped and painted. Was wondering if others have seen these marks on their rim halves too. It's only on one half of each rim assembly, not all 4. This isn't going to be a concours restoration by any means, but a very nice original appearing rider, but I thought someone may like to see some of the little details we come acrossed working on our money pits. The logo/stamping kinda looks like a little transformers logo! Haha.

I find it interesting too. And the odd thing is the one stamping is on the rim half with the valve stem hole, and the other mark is on the solid rim half. If the rims were all popped out of the same machines at the factory, you'd think all 4 rims would have these stamp marks, not just 2 on opposite rim halves. Ohh, I'm not gonna sleep now, I'm going to japan and gonna get this sorted out, I demand answers! 🤣🤣

Supplier mark I believe - you have to be carefull not to bury the mark in primer when restoring them .
If you use a good epoxy primer and then sand - it will easilly fill the shallow mark - so when you prime and paint them take care to go light on the primer in that area and carefull sanding as well or the mark is easilly filled .
Not a big deal but makes a differance to some .

When did the wheel halves start getting date stamped? My 79 has them.
According to Jeremy Polsons CT70 enthusiasts book, 1978 was the first year for an actual date stamping. And it also says a "DOT" stamp mark was done too. I'm wondering if that DOT stamp is the same mark on the rim in the pics I posted. Maybe some here has a known unmolested original 78 model and can verify that.

Just went out and got that tattoo! First guy in the world to get one! When people ask me what is that? I just tell them it's a CT70 thing, you wouldn't understand! JUST KIDDING...

I have an unmolested 78 with very light rust on the rim half’s and see no date codes or DOT stampings on any of the rim half’s..?? This ct came from a guy who’s uncle bought new so Im pretty sure there the originals. When I strip and blast them maybe something will show up but can’t see any markings as of now..I’ll update thread when I do strip an blast to confirm..

My 78 (Australia) has 1277 on the back wheel (both halves with dot numbers) , and 178 both halves on front wheel . All date numbers have little stamp in front. 👍
