Update on Ebay from Dex

I was about to post feedback on my recently received item from Dex and found this message from him posted on E-bay. It may resolve some of the questions some of the members here have posted.

"Hi Everyone,

This is Dex. I am currently out of CT70 and Z50 Carbs, Front Forks, Seats, Disk Break Assemblies, Handle Bars, and Luggage Racks as well as the Zhongshen Engines. This is why my auctions have stopped. My partner in China is currently having a family crisis and the factory is having problems fulfilling my next order.

I know alot of you have purchased an item from me and have been waiting for quite some time, I sincerely apologize. Business has been great due to your support and the truth is: we are having difficulties keeping up! But I am committed to making the deals right for all of you. I have already instructed my staff to offer immediate refunds or 20% discounts for customers waiting for out of stock items.
Please feel free to contact me on my mobile number at 1(909)896-5188 or my email: 'dextongoh@yahoo.com.sg'

We are really working has hard as we can to bring the next shipment in and I am looking forward to working with our loyal customers again.

Best Regards,

Dex"

He seems sincere in the message, and I would note that I received a similar type of message (except the discount offer!) from Amazon.com!

Agreed, he is doing the right thing for the situation he is in. I will probably order from him again since I had 3 sucessful orders and good communication with him, I will just make sure he assures me the parts are actually here and ready to ship.
It`s kind of funny he says he had overwhelming responses to his auctions :)

I agree , after all the worries I had he finaly delivered the goods as prommised. I look forward to seeing his next load loaded off on e-bay. I will be a buyer, even if the goods are disposable. If you look at what is up on e-bay for sale for the CT's it is boaring. At least DEX had some different items that raised our (my) curiousity. Look forward to his return `pricewise `anyways.

Well - I finally got around to finishing up the installation of my Disk Brake (Dex Version) upgrade on my '72. There were a number of little things that have to be moved about to get it all to work but now I think it is done.

No pictures tonight - Too cold and dark out there and I'm tired. Not a good time to road test - 30 degrees outside. Tomorrow if it does not rain I will take it around the block - but all indications are it is a HUGE improvement over stock. Plus the "bling" value is nice too!

These are certainly not "top of the line" products, but if you have a rider and are on a budget, these really are pretty nice. I had to come up with my own Speedo Cable, a modified Yamaha RD350 had the right ends. Pictures as soon as I can get around to it.

Let us know what complications you ran into. I will be doing my DEX mod after the holidays. Any feed back is more than welcome. I remember some where back in the threads there was talk about the first thing to do was change the oil in the tubes. Did you ? Or just stock?

I was able to get a couple of pictures this morning.

I opened the forks and replaced the fork oil with 20# shock oil. Strange stuff was in there, but hard to tell if it made a lot of difference.

The biggest issues were with the speedo cable (not included) and routing of cables. I got a cable for a Yamaha RD350, which I had to shorten 4.25" to make it fit right.

You can't see it in the photo, but I used a layer of heat shrink to join the sleeve, then the protective sleeve it came with, then another layer of heat shrink. Should hold it fine.

The master cylinder makes a tight fit on the bars. I had to rotate my throttle to be on the bottom, then bolt it on. It has a mount hole for a standard mirror. Nice finish and operates flawlessly. It also includes a brake light switch.

I will post a second post to show the overall effect.

Some more pics

Here is a front on shot:

A shot from the right side:

And a finished one of the disk side:

This bike is going to get a full teardown and repaint, hopefully this spring after a couple of other projects get out of the way. I have a Lifan 110 manual as a possible motor, or I am going with an 88 kit and a manual clutch. I will also be rebuilding the seat, and adding blinkers (I ride it on the street and it needs some extra visibility)!

All I can say about the disk kit is it is worth the money, just expect to have a bit of tweaking for your application. The biggest issue really is locating a speedo cable and opening up the bottom tree to fit the fork legs. If you ask him, he will sell you a proper triple for about $30, which is cheap if you don't have the fabrication abilities available.

I can't give you the exact model, but they were from an early Honda road bike. I got them at a wrecking yard. I really got them for a different bike, then they sat around the garage, and I decided to use them as a "mock up" so I could drill holes, etc until I got them "right" so I could purchase a nice new set. I have not gotten to that point yet and they work fine.

the risers are also a junkyard find, simply bolted to the stock to plate.

Hello

I have a few tips to make good front forks of them! You have a lot of possibilities.

I dit it like this:

-I used honda springs in it and did better oil in it
-Then i modified the hub so i could install a brembo 2 piston calyper, and installed koyo bearings in the hub.
-then i bought a daytona floating disc
-bought another brake master cylinder
-last but not least! a steel braided hose kit from goodrigde

so, actually a changed everything:D, but it works P E R F E C T !!!

My CT70 front disc front end is done except for the custom brake line, but I think I'm going to upgrade to a larger caliper. :D
